Shadow of the Erdtree is the first major DLC for Elden Ring which means there’s an entirely new map to explore and as a result there’s more portals to unlock so you can get across the map quickly. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary steps to finding the Imbued Sword Key which is needed to unlock the portal in question.

Ancient Ruins of Ruah Portal Location¶
The Ancient Ruins of Ruah can be tricky to reach naturally, so we recommend taking the portal route and this can be found on a small island which is located to the northwest of Castle Ensis and this is situated over to the northeast of the Gravesite Plain Region. Unfortunately, the portal will be offline until you obtain an Imbued Sword Key and this can be found within a chest that’s located in Castle Ensis itself.
You can reach this by starting at the Castle Front Site of Grace and following the path around until you come across Miquella’s Cross, then drop down into the hole on the right and climb up the ladder to the left of the waterfall. Interact with the lever in the opposite room to open the gate then work your way through the castle itself until you reach a tower and then the Imbued Sword Key can be found in a chest inside. With the key in your possession, head over to the portal and activate the portal, then you can use it to transport yourself between the Ancient Ruins of Ruah and Scadu Altus.
