Mass Pike Interchange Elevated Highways
Description
The Mass Pike Interchange in Fallout 4 serves as a significant location within the Commonwealth, now inhabited by the Gunners.
Background / History
Originally part of the Massachusetts Turnpike, this interchange once facilitated travel between north-south and east-west routes near Lake Cochituate, west of Boston. By 2287, it has become a Gunner outpost.
Layout
- The interchange consists of two roads: the elevated freeway and the old highway. Gunners have set up outposts on both levels.
- Elevators provide access to the upper and lower sections of the freeway. The lower section is heavily guarded and contains loot-filled shacks.
Notable Loot
- Grognak the Barbarian Issue #7: Found in the commander’s shack on top of the toilet.
- Leveled power armor pieces: On the power armor station next to the Gunner commander’s shack. Nearby Gunners may enter the power armor if alerted.
- A standing power armor: Located northwest of the Mass Pike Interchange at a military checkpoint.

Notes
- In the Nuka-World add-on, a Gunner named Zachariah can be found here before he relocates to the Grandchester Mystery Mansion.
- Sometimes power armor pieces may be inaccessible if they clip into the environment. Activating the power armor station can sometimes resolve this issue.
Trivia
- The Mass Pike Interchange is based on a real location in Weston, Massachusetts, where Route 128 (Interstate 95) intersects with the turnpike. However, its portrayal in the game differs in geographical details.
