A mysterious stranger who knows more than he lets on about the unknown phenomenon taking over the world.

A sudden visitor to Elgarthe, possessing certain knowledge of the strange event that befell it. Though his motives are unclear, he agreed to join Kanata and the others on their journey. His weapons of choice are the mysterious bits he controls with magic, serving his every need in battle, and which take uncanny concentration and technique to wield effectively. Van is efficient in the use of spritnite and possesses a high battle IQ.

Van is a character with a special gimmick, with his power revolving around his bits that he can spawn during battle. Some skills will generate bits for Van whenever he uses them, like Target Ray, Accelerate, Grim End , and Energize. Now, the first three will only make a single bit each time, but Energize is the best for this, as it generates four bits. In fact, with Energize and Van’s sidequest skill, it’s possible to deal tremendous amounts of damage that makes pretty much all bosses simple.

Van’s other skills fall in one of two categories, as they will either actually use bits to do something or they are stronger the more bits you have. One of the best skills in the former category is Hermit, as it uses a bit to inflict Parasite, which is an ailment that can forcibly cancel the enemy’s next attack or skill use. Ignition will have its power buff sent to all allies when using two bits and Epic Crack will inflict a debuff after spending a single bit.
