In-game Description
A spirit has taken the form of this giant dragon inhabiting the upper reaches of the skies. It is named for its shining golden mane and gleaming scales. It looks divine as it soars through the sky, giving off a soft glow, and its presence is comforting somehow.
Tips/Strategy
Roams the skies of Hyrule so moves position. Easiest place to catch it is by using a nearby tower. You can land on its back to recover the Master Sword.
Interactive Map Locations
1. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass near Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.
You can reach it by launching from the tower.
2. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass by the Dragon’s Tear at North Tabantha Snowfield.
You can reach it by launching from the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower or Taninoud Shrine in the sky, for example.
3. Hyrule Surface Map
After going past the Dragon’s Tear at North Tabantha Snowfield, the Light Dragon will travel east.
It will pass by the Drenan Highlands Chasm and Thyphlo Ruins.
You can reach it by launching from Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower or Mayam Shrine in the sky.
4. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass by the Master Sword shaped Dragon’s Tear just outside the Eldin region.
At this point, it’s likely too high to reach unless you’ve prepared a flying machine or are already riding the dragon.
5. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass near Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, within sight of the Dragon’s Tear at the Rist Peninsula.
You can reach it by launching from the skyview tower.
6. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass by the north side of Death Mountain.
You could reach it by gliding from the peak of Death Mountain.
7. Hyrule Surface Map
After surveying the Akkala region, the Light Dragon will pass by the south side of Death Mountain and approch the Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower.
Naturally, you can catch it by launching from the skyview tower. Or via Kadaunar Shrine in the sky.
8. Hyrule Surface Map
After going past the Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower, the Light Dragon will pass by the Nintendo Switch… er, Purah Pad shaped Dragon’s Tear.
At this point, you might still be able to reach it if you launch from the skyview tower. But it’s probably easier if you wait.
Of note, the dragon will also pass somewhat near the Flame Gleeok flying above Trilby Canyon. But not close enough for a proper fight.
9. Hyrule Surface Map
After going past the Purah Pad shaped Dragon’s Tear, the Light Dragon will approach the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower.
Obviously you can launch yourself from the skyview tower. You could also glide down from Jirutagumac Shrine in the sky.
10. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass over East Reservoir Lake.
Since Wellspring Island and the Water Temple are also above the lake, you could intercept the dragon by coming from there.
11. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass near Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. It will do this after passing by the Dragon’s Tear at Talus Plateau.
You can reach it by launching from the skyview tower.
12. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying over Mount Lanayru, the Light Dragon will pass near the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab and Hateno Village in general.
At this point, it’s probably too high up to reach. Unless you have a flying machine with plenty of juice.
13. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying near Hateno Village, the Light Dragon will pass near the Meda Mountain Chasm.
You may be able to reach it by launching from the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower.
14. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying over the Meda Mountain Chasm, the Light Dragon will pass near Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower, within sight of the Dragon’s Tear towards the west.
You can reach the dragon by launching from the skyview tower.
15. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying near Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower, the Light Dragon will travel south near Popla Foothills Skyview Tower.
You can launch yourself from the tower to reach the dragon.
16. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass by the north-east and north side of the Great Plateau.
You can reach it when it passes over the Coliseum Ruins by gliding from Jinodok Shrine.
Or maybe by launching from Hyrule Field Skyview Tower.
17. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying near Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, the Light Dragon will pass by the Dragon’s Tear at the Gerudo Highlands cliff.
At this point, you can only reach the dragon with a dedicated flying machine or by waiting.
18. Hyrule Surface Map
After going past the Dragon’s Tear at the Gerudo Highlands cliff, the Light Dragon will pass near the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and the Yiga Clan Hideout.
You can reach the dragon by launching from the skyview tower. If you haven’t visited the tower before, you might not have enough time.
19. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying over the Gerudo Highlands, the Light Dragon will visit the Dragon’s Tear at Illumeni Plateau.
At this point, without a flying machine, you can only reach the dragon from the sky, such via Starview Island.
20. Hyrule Surface Map
The Light Dragon will pass by the Dragon’s Tear near the Royal Ancient Lab Ruins.
At this point, you should wait for it to approach a tower etc.
21. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying over the Royal Ancient Ruins, the Light Dragon will fly near Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower.
You can reach the dragon by launching from the tower.
22. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying past Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, the Light Dragon will visit the Dragon’s Tear at Tabantha Hills.
At this point, you should probably camp outside the next tower, unless you’ve prepared a flying machine.
23. Hyrule Surface Map
After visiting the Tabantha Hills Dragon’s Tear, the Light Dragon will pass near Rospro Pass Skyview Tower and Rito Village.
We suggest launching from the tower.
24. Hyrule Surface Map
After flying near Rospro Pass Skyview Tower, the Light Dragon will travel through Lake Kilsie, Sturnida Basin, Biron Snowshelf and Hebra Tundra.
Eventually it’ll reach the north side of the Hebra Mountains, where the bottomless chasm is.
You can intercept it from the Rising Chain Islands or wait until it approaches Pikida Stonegrove.
