There are a few niggly bugs in Warhammer 40,000 Darktide, even after a few patches have been released. Several of them are found in the game’s Penance system, which while not super-important to the game overall, for completionists they are annoying if you can’t get the achievement after seemingly meeting all the criteria. Let’s take a closer look at the Warp Battery Penance, find out why it’s not working for some people and let you know how to get around it.
How To get Warp Battery Penance in Darktide¶
The Warp Battery Penance is a class-specific achievement for the Psyker class and unfortunately, it has a rather simple bug that is caused grief for a lot of players. The Warp Battery penance is also one of the more desirable early achievements for Psykers as it rewards you with a cosmetic (Storm Witch’s Duty Rainment) for your lower body and so can get you out of your prison grab when you hit it.
The issue with the Penance is with the description itself. It’s more of a typo than a bug as it reads “While on malice threat or higher, in a single session maintain maximum warp charges for 300s.
The problem is if you are trying to complete missions on the Malice level it doesn’t award the achievement. You need to be on Heresy difficulty instead in order for the game to start tracking progress toward completing the Penance.
Warp Penance Bug¶
At the time of writing, we are on Hotfix 1.14 and we still have not seen it changed. Whether that means there is a big that should see it pass on Malice that needs fixing, or simply a minor text change, we are surprised it hasn’t been mended as yet.
So if you really want those pants as a reward, you will have to up your game and get completing missions on Heresy mode.
