Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Inferno Operation Dataslates

By
Nathan Garvin

Most of the game’s Dataslates are hidden away in campaign mode, which features 23 of the busywork collectibles. But Operations mode is very similar to campaign mode, being effectively side missions covering the activities of other squads of space marines supporting Titus and his crew. It should be no surprise, then, that these missions also feature Dataslates - generally two per Operations mode mission. If you want to unlock the Data Mining achievement, you’ll need to play through each Operations mode mission and find all their Dataslates, too, and this page will help you find all the Dataslates in the first Operations mode mission, Inferno in Space Marine 2.

Page Breakdown

Inferno Dataslates

The game’s first Operations mode mission, Inferno will unlock after you complete the first campaign mission, [Skyfire]. Pick a class, find a crew and jump on in! It’s more of the same - slogging through Kadaku’s swamps and jungles en route to your objective. Naturally all sorts of Tyranids will get in your way, including Raveners, Zoanthropes and perhaps the odd Lictor, as well as the obligatory hordes of Gaunts and Warriors. If the Lictor catches you off guard, that’s because this enemy won’t be introduced until the second story mission, [Severance], where the creature serves as a mid-boss.

This is a fairly long mission, featuring a notable defense segment and a holdout segment at the end. The former serves as a landmark of sorts that’ll help you find the second Dataslate while the latter will… well, let you know that you’ve missed both Dataslates. Unlike campaign mode missions, waves of enemies will continually spawn, so it should go without saying that hunting for Dataslates is best done on the lowest difficulty.

Dataslate 01: Amelioration of Improper Ordnance Storage

The mission starts you out in a jungle - nothing surprising here so far. Unless you’re really unlucky with enemy wave spawns you shouldn’t encounter anything new just yet. Advance through the swamp until you run across an overgrown bunker. Kill any Tyranids nearby and work your way around to the left of the building to find an entrance. Head inside and search the far room to find this Dataslate on a crate. If you find yourself going uphill under a bridge, you’re running past the bunker with the Dataslate. On the plus side, if you miss this Dataslate, it’s not much of a chore to replay the start of this Operation!

(1 of 3) Enter the Promethium Refinery and defend two generators,

Dataslate 02: Admiration of Promethium

The mission’s second Dataslate is quite a bit further in and definitely more of a bother to miss. Make your way through the swamp, past the first bunker, through a second bunker, search a ravaged Imperial camp and enter the Promethium Refinery. Eventually you’ll reach a large chamber where you’ll ultimately be tasked with defending a pair of generators from waves of Tyranids, after which you’ll be given the task “Advance to the Observation Platform”. Assemble in a chamber just beyond where you defended the generators, go through a door, drop off a ledge, and make your way through the area ahead.

Eventually you’ll ascend some damaged stairs and pass through a doorway to reach another large chamber. Turn left and you’ll spot a ramp just past an Ammo Cache - go up the ramp and search a cubby to the left to find this Dataslate on a table. It’s easy to know if you’ve gone too far with this one, as if you pass under this area you’ll need to cross a bridge and ride up an elevator to continue - the elevator is the point of no return for this Dataslate, so just make sure you have it before you take the elevator up.
