What are Hunts?¶
Hunts are the primary Sidequest in Final Fantasy XII and locating and ultimately defeating them all is one of the toughest tasks in the game. It’s not without it’s boons however, a lot of the best equipment in the game is rewarded either through completion of these or as a result of it. Additionally, Hunts provide one of the best sources of Gil in Final Fantasy XII, something that’s not always easy to come by.
How to locate Hunts?¶
To even begin taking on Hunts, you’ll need to progress the story up until Migelo sends you to the tavern early in the game. From this point onward, you’ll be able to head to the local taverns at settlements and check the Notice Board to see if any Hunts are available.
Once accepted, your next task is to locate the petitioner which is listed on the bill itself. You must do this before the Mark will even appear in an area, even with the knowledge this guide provides you with. Upon speaking to them, they’ll give you clues as to the location of your Mark (or follow the location in this guide) where you can begin your Hunt. There are a total of 32 Notice Board Hunts in the game but there are more deadlier Hunts available beyond these.
Clan Centurio Elite Marks¶
Not long after you defeat the Rogue Tomato will you run into Clan Centurio at the Clan Hall and it’s leader, Montblanc. Upon speaking to him, he’ll agree to let you join and you’ll gain access to his Elite Marks among other pieces of informations and rewards. Although you’ll be nowhere near ready to take on these tasks, there are another 13 Hunts to undertake and these include some of the toughest battles in the game.
Once again, you’ll need to track down the petitioner (often Montblanc himself) once you accept the bill before the Mark will even appear. Be sure to fully prepare yourself for these challenging encounters, you’ll need optimal party setups and more often than not, have to venture off the beaten path to even encounter them.
