Vyv is a stocky man who waits on the outskirts of Lestallum, eager to give passing princes photography assignments. That’s really all his quests boil down to - go to an area (or areas), sometimes in dungeons, most often not, and take a picture of the assigned locale(s). It’s not all bad, though, as the quests give passable experience, provide a fine excuse to explore areas you might otherwise have neglected, and best of all, Vyv pays very, very generously for your time. You can expect to pocket a whopping 87,500 gil by completing the quests he gives (and which can be completed) up to Chapter 9, which should go a long way to keeping yourself financially secure.
The Perfect Landscape¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “A Stroll for Two” | 1,000 EXP / 5,000 Gil |
This first photography quest for Vyv is pretty simple, just talk to him after the quest “A Stroll for Two” to pick it up. YOu need merely return east to Duscae, along the very same highway you probably took to reach Lestallum in the first place. Park at the Rydielle Ley Parking Spot, then head north to find the Lingagh Haven Campground. From there, head north-east to find the vantage point from which to take the photograph Vyv wants. Next stop is near the Chocobo racing tracks, just south-west of the Wiz Chocobo Post. Just travel to the Quest Location, hop on out and climb the rocky hill south of the road, snap the shot quick-like and return to Vyv.
An Eye for Islands¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “The Perfect Landscape” | 1,500 EXP / 7,500 Gil |
If you though the Duscae backtrack was a chore, boy, does Vyv have a surprise for you! That’s right, another, even bigger backtrack, this time to Galdin Quay. There are three apparent photo spots you can attempt to make use of: Skip the one on the pier (as your view from here is obstructed, as Prompto will point out) and continue into the resort, make your way past the Mother of Pearl restaurant and west of The Quayside Cradle to reach the first photo spot. Alternatively you can head to the ferry dock, south, past Dino, to find another spot.
Aftermath of the Astral War¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “An Eye for Islands” | 2,000 EXP / 10,000 Gil |
Get Ignis to drive you to the Quest Location for “Aftermath of the Astral War” or drive to the CLEIGNE: Coernix Bypass Parking Spot. Either way, you’ll need to be north of the building near which the quest takes place. Furthermore there’s an elevated road that connects the building to the highway, which you’ll also need to be north and east of if you want to access your objective. That being the case, when the Regalia is parked head east along the northern end of the building and kill whatever Spiracorns and imperials stand in your way. Your goal is a watch tower along the eastern end of the building, which you can climb to the top of to find a fine vantage point for a photograph.
The next photo spot is less of a hassle, as it’s simply along the highway to the south (the road east of Old Lestallum). You need merely have Ignis drive you to the new Quest Location for “The Aftermath of the Astral War”, kick Prompto out and have him snap a photo.
Of Gods and Kings¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “Aftermath of the Astral War” | 2,500 EXP / 12,500 Gil |
Drive the Regalia to the Quest Location for “Of Gods and Kings” which will take you to a three-way fork south-west of The Fallgrove Parking Spot and the Oathe Haven Campground. Continue south-west through a breach in the guard rail and follow a path which leads you right to The Tomb of the Tall. Clear out any beasties nearby, then snap two pictures, one of the arch outside, and one of the tomb itself.
Vyvs Volcanic Inspiration¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “Of Gods and Kings” | 3,000 EXP / 15,000 Gil |
To get this photograph for Vyv you’re going to have to travel to the western-most reaches of Cleige to reach The Rock of Ravatogh dungeon. Enter the dungeon and climb the first slope to reach the first fork, where you’ll need to head up the slope to the south-western (south-east is a dead-end). Scale another arduous slope (it’ll drain your Stamina on the ascent) and follow the linear path beyond until you reach a more open area with a lava flow, which will damage you if you walk on it. Persevere and brave the heat, heading south-west to reach the lava waterfall that Vyv wants you to take a photo of.
A Place to Call Home¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “Vyv’s Volcanic Inspiration” | 3,500 EXP / 17,500 Gil |
Vyv’s next quest forces you to backtrack once again, this time to the Hill Overlooking Insomnia. That’s right, he wants you to snap a picture of home. Make your way to the Crown City Checkpoint Parking Spot and fight your way through the respawn imperial troops to reach the overlook where Chapter 1 ended to get the photo Vyv wants.
The Pen is Mightier than the Sword¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “A Place to Call Home” | 4,000 EXP / 20,000 Gil |
This quest actually consists of three sub-quests, “Leide Imperial Base”, “Duscae Imperial Base”, “Cleigne Imperial Base”. All you need to do is travel to the three indicated imperial bases (Formouth Garrison, the base west of the Cauthess Rest Area, and the base north of Old Lestallum), take photos and report back to Vyv.
The Cursed Canvas¶
Where | When | Reward |
---|---|---|
Lestallum | Finish “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword”, Complete Chapter 8 | 5,000 EXP / 25,000 Gil |
Vyv’s last quest directs you to photograph a spirit… in Altissia. You’ll have to complete Chapter 8, after which you’ll travel to Altissia. Make your way to the Maagho and talk to Weskham - the proprietor - and gain intel off of him to update this quest. Once done, start the hunt “A Lost Painting” and head to the hunt’s quest marker, which is under Camelia’s estate. Here you’ll encounter a Chadarnook, which is the spirit Vyv wants you to photograph. After fighting (or fleeing from) the Chardarnook return to Vyv, who balks at your accomplishment, but rewards you anyways.
