After the events of Kingdom Hearts II, Jiminy Cricket was looking over the journals he documented during Sora’s adventures and found that the one that was used to document Kingdom Hearts I has a line in it aside from the “Thank Naminé” found in Kingdom Hearts II…
This line leads the King to decode the journals in a computer, and it is found that the journal still contains what was written, but is filled with bugs. They use a Data Sora to go through the worlds and decode the messages and they find odd stuff about Riku in there and various other things about their journey.
There is no real main point to this storyline, in my opinion. It is seen, at the end, that King Mickey has decided to send a message to Sora, an urgent message - the same seen at the end of Kingdom Hearts II.
About what? In a secret video, it is revealed. King Mickey has noted that the hearts of Ventus and Aqua, characters from Birth by Sleep, have been found. Only Terra’s is left. Eventually, we find that, because Xehanort’s Heartless half (fake Ansem) and Nobody half (Xemnas) are gone, Xehanort may come back.
It is decided then that Sora and Riku should be tested to see if they are true Keyblade Masters like King Mickey and are worthy of the Mark of Mastery.
And then comes Kingdom Hearts 3D…
