Overall description

Defender is a pretty big map in comparison to the previous maps we’ve covered and its full of open areas. The southern side is one big open area where you’ll be mostly finding snipers all over the place. There’s a reactor in the center of the area which connects the whole map together and to the east of the map you’ll find the shore. This is one of the levels where there are interactions with the background. This time there will be a tsunami coming in a couple minutes after the match starts. You can use this to your advantage and hide from the enemies when they are nearby.

Action areas

The areas where all the action mostly take place are (non-objective game types like Free-for-All and Team Deathmatch/Kill Confirmed):

  • The upper left corner of the map is a building. What’s powerful is the rooftop which oversees the whole path to the south and the heliport to the north. There’s a whole in the ground that can give you access to the inside of the building to take cover if many enemies are shooting at you, but it works the same the other way around and enemies can come up through the hole and surprise you.
  • The lower right corner of the map is a tower, but only the first floor is available to cross. This is located below the actual open area so there’s no camping here, but people tend to come here after gunfights to replenish their health and keep on going. This connects to the shore to the north and most people like to boost jump across the wall on the west side of it to get to the east side so its perfect.
  • The center of the area, the reactor is another powerful area. This, like in most maps, connects all sides of the map and when the tsunami comes the reactor activates creating a large beam of energy in the middle. There’s also pipes in here that act as catwalks for you to get to the second floor exits with having to boost jump your way out of there.

Hardpoint

The following is a list of the hardpoints in the map and how to approach each one:

  • The central area of the map, where the reactor is. Despite the amount of ways to get in here, they are mostly guarded. The best way to come in here is by any of the lower entrances (north, south, east).
  • Another hardpoint in which there are few ways to come in and its such a little area that a lot happens in a short amount of time. Boost jumping through the windows is your best bet, throwing some Semtex/Frags before going in to secure a little bit more the area.
  • This is a really spacious area. Ignore the entrance on the south and the openings on the side of the building because they are usually heavily guarded. The back entrance and the opening in the ceiling are usually unprotected. Make sure to take out any enemies that linger on the roof before proceeding through the hole.
  • This one is really similar to the previous hardpoint. Approach it carefully from either the north or south openings, and you can also try the southwestern entrance, which should be less protected than the other two.
  • This is a good one. Now there are a ton of ways to get into this hardpoint. Approaching from the heliport is the best idea. Keep a low profile while getting here (no Boost Movements) to avoid being detected.
