How to Access¶

The Great Cystal is not actually located on the world map. It is instead found in the Ancient City of Giruvegan. To find it you must walk down to the deepest reaches of the Gate of Fire and find a waystone, which grants access to the area. The Great Crystal links the Gate of Fire at Giruvegan with the floating Gate of Wind and is the only way the Occuria (“The Undying”) and Shemhazai Esper can be accessed.

What is the Great Crystal?¶

You may be wondering what the Great Crystal even is, and why it deserves special recognition. You’ll visit this area briefly during the story but more importantly, you can revisit this area just before the game’s final area to access a larger, tougher optional area where you can loot some of the best equipment along with face off with one of the toughest enemies and snag yourself a very powerful Esper.

As you can see, there are many benefits to The Great Crystal however it’s not all plain sailing and provided on what you’ve already cleared, you may need to make two trips to face the optional boss here.

No Map?¶

That’s right, what makes the Great Crystal so daunting is the complete lack of a map making this maze like dungeon incredibly tough to get around and collect all of the precious loot. Thankfully, we’ve done our best to provide a map that will see you through each of the chambers and clear everything there is to see in the Great Crystal.
