Strengths of the Wraith¶
The Wraith is essentially the Covenant answer to UNSC’s M808 Scorpion tank. The Wraith is just as durable and deadly as the Scorpion, but its weapons arsenal has different strengths and weaknesses. The main plasma mortar firing mode is less accurate than the cannon on the Scorpion, but it allows you to fire the mortar further and even over objects across the map. This provides you with a bit more flexibility in terms of hitting difficult to reach opponents who might be hiding behind small rocks or other obstacles. The mortar also explodes with a plasma fire in much the same way that the Ravager does, only much more powerful and with a wider radius for AoE (area of effect) damage. The alternative fire mode in the form of the plasma cannon provides much greater accuracy at the expense of reduced AoE damage and less damage overall per firing round, so it’s a good option for taking out any remaining enemies after a mortar hit.
Weaknesses of the Wraith¶
The Wraith isn’t quite as slow as its Scorpion counterpart, but it’s still cumbersome to pilot and it will feel clunky at times, especially when you’re facing multiple enemies from different angles. It shares many of the same weaknesses that tanks in general do, which includes vulnerability to being attacked by numerous enemies with powerful anti-tank weapons such as the Skewer and M41 SPNKR. In addition, since the Wraith can only support the presence of two players, it doesn’t have the same versatility as the Scorpion, which can be easier to defend as the additional passengers can quickly jump out to eliminate any threats in areas of the map where visuals for the tank weapons are difficult to obtain.
Where to Find the Wraith¶
The Wraith can only be acquired from Pelican drops on Big Team Battle maps such as Deadlock, Fragmentation, and Highpower.
