Strengths of the M290 Mongoose¶
The M290 Mongoose is the smallest and lightest of the UNSC vehicles. This makes it the most versatile in terms of getting to places which would be difficult or impossible to reach for the larger vehicles, allowing you to escape heavy fire but still move at speed. The best use of the M290 Mongoose is arguably during Capture the Flag and Stockpile games modes, where you can quickly grab a flag or power seed and speed away with it, so long as you have one person to drive the vehicle while the other carries the item on the back. The M290 Mongoose is also useful on large maps such as Deadlock, Fragmentation, and Highpower because it allows you to traverse large areas to get into the action quickly, or leave it just as quickly if the tide of battle turns against you.
Weaknesses of the M290 Mongoose¶
The most obvious weakness of the M290 Mongoose is that it’s incredibly weak. The vehicle can be destroyed fairly easily by a relatively small amount of fire power, but the most significant weakness is that both the driver and the passenger are exposed in their seats. A good sniper with an S7 Sniper Rifle can take both people in the Mongoose out with two quick headshots, not to mention that one hit from a Skewer or M41 SPNKR will often destroy the vehicle and kill both people in it at the same time. The M290 Mongoose also lacks any offensive capabilities in terms of fire power unless you get the M290-M Gungoose variant, which supplies it with two rocket launchers that are mounted on the front of the vehicle.
Where to Find the M290 Mongoose¶
The M290 Mongoose can be found at High Cargo or Low Base on Deadlock, at Canyon Wall or Rock Junction on Fragmentation, at the right side, left side, back of the Tower Base, and at the back of Waterfall Base on Highpower. It can also be found at the South Track, located east of the South Base on Behemoth, and at the North Track which is west of the North Base on the same map. You’ll also find one at the Loading Docks near the Bunker Spawn Point on Launch Site.
