White Mushrooms

One of the White Mushrooms in Agrabah is floating in the air (left) while unmoving Mushrooms have a chance to be encountered in Atlantica (right).

White Mushrooms are curious Heartless. They wander aimlessly, making gestures as if playing charades.

These Heartless are non-combatants. Instead they request that you use magic on them. This appeases them and once they have been hit with magic, they burst with joy, resulting in a large quantity if clear orbs and an item based on the final spell cast. They appear in various locations. The gestures they make determine what you need to cast on them to make them happy.

White Mushrooms will make certain gestures depending on which World they are in. The three basic gestures made in every World White Mushrooms can be found are fanning itself, shivering, and light over it’s head. In Deep Jungle, Halloween Town, Agrabah, and Atlantica they will add a fourth gesture: Laying on the ground, spinning, floating, and stops moving respectively. The End of the World will have White Mushrooms perform all these gestures. Consult the table to see what spell you need to use for each gesture.

**Gesture** **Spell**
Fanning itself Blizzard
Shivering Fire
Light over head Thunder
Spinning Aero
Lay on ground Cure
Stops moving Stop
Floating Gravity

They drop Shards depending on what spell was cast on them. Casting the same spell on the White Mushroom raises the chance of dropping rarer items and does away with the Shards, instead it replaces them with Arts. These can be sold for Munny, but if you get one of each Art you can visit Merlin to receive Goofy’s Dream Shield .

Rare Truffles

This is a Rare Truffle spotted in Monstro (left). Hit it in the air multiple times to get tech points (right).

Similar in appearance to White Mushrooms, though colored blue and yellow, they also are non-combatant Heartless. Instead of wandering around gesturing, the Rare Truffle will jump into the air constantly. Perhaps its desire is to fly or maybe it just likes to bounce, either way it loves to be “juggled” in the air.

There are multiple ways to do this, one is let the Rare Truffle get into a corner and cast Aeroga on Sora when the Rare Truffle jumps. This will let the Heartless bounce up and down, you just need to recast Aeroga to keep it going. The other way is to jump up and swing the Keyblade, knocking the Rare Truffle back into the air. It’s about timing this way; Jump, swing, land, pause. Repeat this pattern to keep the Rare Truffle up.

You receive Tech Points per “juggle”. You can’t hit it more than 100 times so you will gain a total of 5050 Experience points if you do 100 juggles. It’s prudent for attempting maximum experience gain to get to the higher numbers, because hitting it 50 times results in only 1275 XP. So, what’s the point of this? To get rare items! Hitting the Rare Truffle 100 times gives you a 100% drop of Megalixir, Matsutake and Mystery Goo.

Neverland Ship’s Deck
End of the World Final Rest

Items don’t drop in the Coliseum but you can still collect the experience if you want.

Black Fungi

A trio of Black Fungus can be fought in the Olympus Coliseum (left). Watch out for the poisonous purple gas the emit (right).

Unlike the others, these Mushrooms will attack by spewing poison out around themselves. They only take 1 HP of damage every hit so you will need to hit them 9 times. The final hit needs to be a critical finisher or else you won’t get any items. They have a 100% chance to drop Mystery Goo defeated in this manner and an additional 10% to get a Mystery Mold which sells for 3,000 Munny.
