This page offers a guide on how to brew Tears of the Moon potion, which is required for progressing in the main story in Little Witch in the Woods.
Where to Get Tears of the Moon Recipe¶
In order to obtain this recipe, you’ll need to figure out how to read the unreadable memo that you found on the workbench when you originally cleaned up the workspace in the Witch’s House. To read the memo, you’ll need to brew and drink the Enhance Intellect Potion, which can be purchased from Diane’s Witches’ Catalogue. Once you’ve drunk the Enhance Intellect Potion, you’ll be able to read the memo and reveal the recipe for a Tears of the Moon potion.

Tears of the Moon Potion Recipe¶
The Tears of the Moon recipe consists of two ingredients: Sacred Water and Moonflower Water. This potion is meant to be a less potent version of Lunar’s Oil, which you will have used to clear the vines blocking your access to Wisteria.
How to Get Sacred Water¶
To obtain Sacred Water, you’ll need to ask Diane about it. She’ll be able to get you some but it costs 150 Luna Coins - obviously way more than you have at this stage in the game! However, she kindly lets you have the sacred water ‘on credit’. At this stage it is unclear what ‘on credit’ means and whether you’ll need to pay it back or not - We will update accordingly.
You can use the Sacred Water exactly as is in the recipe, so no need to roast it or use the extractor.
Sacred Water can be obtained from Diane.
How to Get Moonflower Water¶
You should still have one moonflower left from when you performed the sunlight potion “ritual” on the shining tree at the summit of the mountain. You’ll be able to use this moonflower to make one more batch of moonflower water. At present, you cannot obtain more moonflowers from repeating the sunlight potion process at the tree, but this might change when the game is fully released.
Moonflowers can be collected from the shining tree atop the mountain.
Once you have both ingredients, put them into the witch’s cauldron then reduce the fire to Stage 2 and stir the ladle right.
What Can You Use Tears of the Moon For?¶
You will need to use the Tears of the Moon to destroy the nucleus of the prickly vines that have destroyed Kyla’s house in Wisteria. Currently, this is the only use for the potion.
