This humble island lies to the south-west of the Kanto mainland. Here, you can challenge the Fire-type Gym, although you’ll find that you cannot enter it straight away. If you followed our advice to seek a Dark-type Pokémon to combat Sabrina, you’ll have visited this island earlier. This time, we’re going to take a proper look around.
As you come from Route 20, head over to the south side of the island. On the right hand side is the Poké Mart, for all your adventuring and battling supplies. Meanwhile, near the middle is the Pokémon Center. After your long journey to get here, you should probably go inside and let your Pokémon rest up.
Moving on, to the left of the Pokémon Center is the Cinnabar Lab. Visitors are welcome, so feel free to step inside. From the entrance, head along the eastern corridor. The first room on the left is the reception room. Then the room after that is the research lab. Here, go over to the scientist working in front of a computer up ahead.
After listening to him rant, he’ll give you TM02 Taunt. This move forces your opponent to use attacking moves only. This is a good way to stop your opponent from using moves that inflict a status condition or boost their stats, etc. Of course, try to use it against an opponent that you can stand your ground against in the first place.
The last room is the experimental lab. Inside, go over to the scientist standing next to the Poké Ball machine in the top-right corner. This scientist will resurrect any Pokémon fossils you have.
Once you’ve seen enough, step back outside. Towards the north-east corner of the island is the Pokémon Gym. However, if you try to use the door, you’ll discover that it’s locked. To enter the Gym, you must visit the Pokémon Mansion in the north-west corner. Before entering the mansion, go left and grab the Antidote on the floor.
