Boss: The Witch of Hemwick¶
When you enter The Witch of Hemwick’s boss arena you might be fooled into thinking that the Mad One is the boss, but it’s not. The boss remains invisible until you kill the Mad One or discover her by running around the area. The good news is that the Mad One is relatively slow and completely avoidable as you run through the area, provided you stay far away from it, so this is the better plan of the two.
Phase 1
Start by running through the area looking for The Witch of Hemwick and make sure to quickly attack her once she appears, as she will defend herself by creating a giant burst of pink energy around her before disappearing. Continue to do this until she dies, at which time it is revealed to just be a doppelganger of the real Witch of Hemwick who’s life bar appears.
List of The Witch of Hemwicks’s attacks in Phase 1:
- Dark Wave: Emits a spherical ball of aura around herself that does heavy damage
- Summon: Summons Mad Ones into the arena, based on how much HP she has remaining
Phase 2
The real witch will begin to shoot white orbs in your direction, which bind you and make you vulnerable to attack from Mad Ones or allows her to grab you and gouge out your eyes to heal or revive the doppelganger. The easiest way to deal with this is find out where the white orbs are coming from and try to approach her from behind, where you can attack her without her seeing.
List of The Witch of Hemwicks’s attacks in Phase 2:
- Paralysis Blast: Shoots white balls of light that bind you and make you vulnerable to other attacks
- Eye Gouge: Only performed when paralyzed, this attack does heavy damage
Drop: 11,800 Blood Echoes and Bloodshot Eyeball x4
Before leaving make sure to head down the opposite stairs to find a room with a corpse holding the Rune Workshop Tool , allowing you to equip runes in the Hunter’s Dream by speaking to the altar near Gehrman.
