Information about Charms in Diablo Immortal, including what are Charms, where to get them, how to upgrade them and what effects they have when equipped.
What are Charms in Diablo Immortal?¶
Charms are another traditional bit of Diablo gear that are making a return - albeit in a degenerate form - in Diablo Immortal. In Diablo 2 Charms were magical devices you could gain a wide variety of passive boons from by just keeping in your inventory. In Diablo Immortal, however, you’ve got one Charm slot, and you must equip a Charm there to gain any benefit from it. Also, instead of the wide array of potential magical properties Charms used to bestow, in Diablo Immortal they now give a bonus to the damage various skills deal. Unlike most items in Diablo Immortal, Charms are not instanced by class - you will get many, many Charms that have skill bonuses for other classes.
Where to Find Charms in Diablo Immortal¶
You can obtain Charms via a variety of sources, but surprisingly not as standard treasures from killing monsters and looting chests.
-
You have a random chance to obtain a Charm when completing certain Bounties.
-
Earned by completing Daily Activities. Essentially you can earn three rewards by obtaining a certain number of Battle Points in a day. One of these rewards - the mid-tier reward for earning 70x Battle Points - is a random Charm.
-
You’ll obtain a few Charms as rewards for ranking up your Battle Pass.
-
You can purchase Charms from the Hilts Trader. Each one will set you back 100x Hilts, and you can only buy 3x Charms per week this way.
Suffice to say, you’ll earn most of your Charms by completing your dailies - complete Bounties, earn Battle Points, and be sure to redeem your Daily Activity rewards as the Battle Points flow in, and you should find Charms trickling in.
How to Upgrade Charms in Diablo Immortal¶
Charms, as mentioned earlier, spawn with a paltry bonus to one skill. Unfortunately the skills boosted by Charms are instanced by your character class, so you’ve only got a 1-in-6 chance of actually boosting a skill that’s relevant to you.
Enter [Skill Stones] and the [Charm Craftsman].
The Charm Craftsman in Westmarch provides a variety of services, and while you can find more details on the [Charm Craftsman] page, the brief rundown is that you can use the “Salvage” service to break down unwanted Charms into Alchemical Powder, “Upgrade” Charms by expending Alchemical Powder, adding a random new skill to the Charm in the process, “Extract” to turn a maxed out Charm into a Skill Stone, and “Imbue” to replace a skill on a Charm with a random skill from a Skill Stone.
Skill Stones are maxed out Charms that have been Extracted via the Charm Craftsman, and contain the same skills they had when they were a Charm.
