The best Leif Emblem skills and pairings are here in this very page. With his focus on robustness and Proficiencies, Leif is an excellent Emblem to Sync to some of your sturdier melee units. He’s known as the Emblem of Genealogy and has type bonuses with most melee classes. This page will tell you everything you need to know about him.
Leif Emblem Basic Stats and Background¶
Engage Attack | Engage Skill | Usable Weapons |
---|---|---|
Quadruple Hit | Adaptable, Foe Engage Attack Damage/2 | Killer Axe (Leif), Master Lance, Light Brand |
Leif is from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 that released back on the Super Nintendo, this title was never released outside of Japan. You’ll have to wait until Chapter 8 to obtain this Emblem Ring, where you will obtain it after the battle.
His Quadruple Hit Engage Attack will see him attack a single target with a Sword, Lance, Axe, and a Bow, aimed at breaking your target. His Engage Skill, Adaptable, will further that thinking by countering a battle with the most appropriate weapon you have on you, be it range or a weapon to break the target.
Leif’s Playstyle¶
When it comes to Emblem Rings to Sync with, Leif isn’t one of the strongest and his main selling point is using him to teach Proficiencies (which you can do via the Arena). He does offer boosts to Bld, which is useful if you pair him with sturdier Units and his Engage Attack, Quadruple Hit, can be useful if you think you won’t one-shot your target and want to Break them.
Adaptable will be useful on certain classes, like Bow Knights, to take advantage of the Enemy Phase but the Vantage skills are probably his biggest strength. This will allow you to get your counter in before the enemy attacks, although the issue is it’s better to learn this and slap it on other Units/pairs.
Killer Axe (Leif), the Emblem weapon that Leif starts with has increased Critical Chance so is always useful. Master Lance has a fantastic trait that guarantees you to attack twice when you initiate combat and can also be used at range. His final weapon, Light Brand, is another weapon that can be used at range and will give a nice boost of Lck+10.
Best Leif Emblem Skills to Inherit¶
As with most Emblems, their stat skills are always useful, but they’re expensive and your slots are limited. By far the most useful Skills (beyond learning Proficiencies) for Leif are the Vantage Skills (Levels 3, 12, and 18) and are excellent to pair alongside other Skills such as Wrath. They also have a rather modest cost to them so are Skills well worth considering using.
Leif’s other main Skills are the Arms Shield line of Skills (at Levels 1, 7, and 16) that are focused on you taking less damage when you have the correct weapon advantage in battle, something you should always be aiming for.
Best Leif Emblem Pairings¶
For Leif, it’s all about his sturdiness and melee weapon advantages in battle, so with that in mind, you’ll want to use the more tankier Units or Bow users that can take advantage from range. The main takeaway is that all of these Characters have better pairings, so only equip Leif there if you need to find a home for him.
With that in mind, Alcryst can make use of Leif, especially if you have multiple types of Bows on you so he can switch between them for Adaptable and counter from most ranges.
Both Jade and Saphir, being tankier Units, are probably one of the better choices for Leif as Arms Shield will make them even harder to defeat. Likewise, any Character you make a Hero should consider equipping Leif as they’ll have multiple weapons on them to punish any weapon type you go up against, the main focus of Leif as an Emblem.
