The best Edelgard Emblem skills and pairings are here in this very page. With her heavy focus on Str/Dex buffs, she’s a powerhouse to Sync to some of your melee units. She’s known as the Emblem of Rivals and has type bonuses with most melee classes. This page will tell you everything you need to know about her.
Edelgard Emblem Basic Stats and Background¶
Engage Attack | Engage Skill | Usable Weapons |
---|---|---|
Houses Unite | Combat Arts, Foe Engage Attack Damage/2 | Aymr, Areadbhar, Failnaught |
Edelgard, Dimitri & Claude are from Fire Emblem: Three Houses that released on the Nintendo Switch, and is one of the more popular titles in the west. This Emblem contains all three of the characters. You’ll have to wait until Chapter 6 and own the Expansion Pass to obtain this Emblem Ring, where you will obtain it in the Somniel.
The Houses Unite Engage Attack is a strong attack that will hit a foe with all three weapons, aiming to break their target if they don’t kill them outright. The Engage Skill, Combat Arts, offers an attack from each of the three characters, depending on which one is currently active.
Edelgard’s Playstyle¶
Edelgard’s playstyle changes based on which of the three characters are out at once, as each one offers a different weapon and Gambit, all of which add on top of her general billing as a strong melee attacker. Houses Units is a great Engage Attack, and in the rare circumstances that it doesn’t kill your target, it will almost certainly break them.
Combat Arts are a great Engage Attack that lets you choose from three different choices. Edelgard’s Raging Storm will let you attack again following it, Dimitiri’s Atrocity will let you attack a double the Mt, and Claude’s Fallen Star is a ranged attack that will let you avoid an enemy’s attacks in the next combat turn.
The trio also have access to Gambits, and which one you can use will change based on who is the currently active Character. Edelgard can use the Flame Gambit, which will set the few spaces in front of her on fire for a turn, Dimitri’s Shield Gambit will negate the next ranged attack, and Claude’s Poison Gambit will inflict Poison on the target and all foes around it.
Each character has access to a different Emblem weapon (that Byleth has access to), Aymr when Edelgard is active which is a heavy weapon effective against Dragons, Areadbhar which is a lance that grants a Mt boost, and Failnaught which is a bow that grants a boost to AVO and is also effective against Dragons.
Best Edelgard Emblem Skills to Inherit¶
As with most Emblems, their stat skills are always useful, but they’re expensive and your slots are limited, although the combination of Str/Dex for one slot is tempting. Lineage is a fantastic skill that should be slotted to every character you can, as it will increase the EXP earned by 20%.
Outside of Lineage, the Weapon Sync skills (Levels 13 and 18) are great if you find yourself often going up against enemies with the same weapon type as they will give you an Atk boost. Finally, the Bow Guard line of skills (Levels 5, 9, 15, 18, and 20) will decrease the damage you take from any enemies that use a Bow against you.
Best Edelgard Emblem Pairings¶
Outside of making sure you pair Edelgard with a melee unit, you can’t really go wrong with who you select as she’s an Emblem that works great on almost anyone. Still, there are a few lead candidates that makes Edelgard shine even more.
Diamant is one of our main picks for this Emblem, it’ll give him more Str/Dex boosts which are always welcome, the ability to make the best use of Weapon Sync as he’ll always be up in the enemy’s face. Edelgard will make any Character of a similar build to Diamant shine for these reasons.
Alternatively, Alcryst makes an excellent home for this Emblem. He’ll get the best use of the Str/Dex boosts and will make Luna that much more useful. He’ll also get access to the Bow Guard abilities which will help out there and then he also will be able to use the other weapons if your foes close in on your position.
