This Page is a walkthrough on the Taxi Driver Side Mission in Grand Theft Auto III. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to starting and completing a fare.
How to start a Taxi Fare¶
In order to begin a taxi mission you’ll need to find a Taxi, Cabbie, or Borgnine Taxi driving around Liberty City, then commandeer by pressing Y/Triangle. From here press up on the D-PAD to get started.
Where to find Taxi Fares¶
Your objective as a Taxi Driver is to find fares which show up as green squares, pick them up, and take them to their destination which show up as pink squares as quickly as you can. As you complete a fare, you’ll need to reach the next one before the timer reaches zero or the mission will end. Additionally, your Taxi cannot get too damaged or your fare will get terrified and flee. Before you can pick up another fare you’ll need to take the Taxi to a Pay ‘N’ Spray and repair it.
As you begin to rack up the fares, you’ll learn that you get bonuses after each five-fare streak, and bonuses for going to the destination extraordinarily quickly.
100% Completion¶
One part of the 100% Completion in Grand Theft Auto III is to successfully find and drop off 100 Passengers. Upon completing this you’ll also find a new Borgnine Taxi will spawn near HEAD Radio in Harwood.
Participating in Taxi Missions is a good way to familiarize yourself with the areas of Liberty City, so splitting the 100 Fares up into areas is a good way to keep the mode fresh and learn the routes. For example, doing 30 in Portland, 30 in Staunton and 40 in Shoreside. However, areas in Portland become difficult later in the game, so you may want to do that sooner rather than later.
