How to Find Uranium in No Man’s Sky¶
Mine Rocks on Radioactive Planets¶
The main source for Uranium in No Man’s Sky is from rock deposits, primarily on planets with radioactive environments. On these planets you will find some Uranium as a Primary or Secondary Element from almost any rock source that you encounter. You can check whether a planet has Uranium as a primary resource in rocks by scanning it from your starship, then checking the primary elements and materials present on the planet.
Once you’re on a radioactive planet, you can use your Analysis Visor to inspect rocks of any type. If the rock has Uranium present in it, you’ll see it as either the Primary or Secondary Element from the Analysis Visor screen, as shown in the screenshot below.
Refuel the Starship Launch Thruster¶
The main reason that you’re likely to need Uranium is to fuel the Launch Thruster on a Starship. You’ll find it much easier to have a good supply of Uranium stored in your inventory to refuel the Launch Thrusters on the fly, rather than having to craft Launch Fuel each time you find yourself running out. You’ll find plenty of Uranium on any radioactive planet, so you can easily create a store of it in your inventory within about 30 minutes of mining.
Other than refuelling the Launch Thruster, Uranium is used to craft the Autonomous Mining Unit, Exocraft Summoning Station, and Health Station. It’s also used to craft some flora such as Gamma Weed, alloy metal such as Lemmium, and upgrade modules such as the Megawatt Heater, Positron Ejector, and Radiation Deflector.
Other Sources of Uranium¶
Mineral Extraction Hotspots¶
Aside from mining basic rocks on radioactive planets, you can also mine Uranium on a more industrial scale from certain mining hotspots with Mineral Extractors. You’ll need to identify a specific hotspot which yields Uranium with the Survey Device upgrade for the Analysis Visor, but once you’ve done this you can continually extract Uranium and keep it stored in Supply Depots.
Refining Uranium¶
Finally, you can refine Uranium from various materials to produce it from alternative sources. The viable options for doing this are detailed in the table below, including the amount of material that you’ll need for each item.
Material 1 | Material 2 | Output |
---|---|---|
2 Phosphorus | 1 Ferrite Dust | 1 Uranium |
2 Phosphorus | 1 Pure Ferrite | 1 Uranium |
2 Gamma Root | 1 Salt | 1 Uranium |
1 Radon | 1 Di-hydrogen | 1 Uranium |
1 Radon | 1 Ferrite Dust | 1 Uranium |
1 Radon | 1 Pure Ferrite | 2 Uranium |
1 Radon | 1 Magnetised Ferrite | 3 Uranium |
