Pokémon: Sun & Moon

Memorial Hill

By
Vincent Lau

Akala Island’s burial site; home to restless Ghost Pokemon.

Pokémon Encounters - Memorial Hill

Name Types(s) Location (Encounter Rate)
"Zubat" IconZubat Poison/Flying All grass (20%)
"Gastly" IconGastly Ghost/Poison All grass (50%)
"Phantump" IconPhantump Ghost/Grass All grass (30%)

Ooh, don’t come here at night. From the entrance, stroll east and up the steps. You’ll find a hedge maze of sorts, with graves dotted around. The maze itself is pretty straightforward to navigate, but getting all the hidden items can be a pain since there’s little space to call "Stoutland" IconStoutland.

Anyway, go east from the lady with the "Rockruff" IconRockruff. The next grave along, by the corner, search its front to find a hidden Heal Powder . Is that somebody’s offering? Hmm, don’t think too hard about it. After the corner, there’s a trainer facing a grave stone.

Gentleman Smith

Pokemon Level Type
"Umbreon" IconUmbreon 23 Dark

The Dark-type evolution of "Eevee" IconEevee. Its offensive capabilities are poor, but it’s pretty dang bulky. Hit it hard with Bug, Fighting or Fairy moves if you have them, or this battle could take a while. To make things worse, Smith has a Full Restore on hand. Aw, c’mon!

Next, make your way west towards the point where you can go north or south. First, head south. To the far west, you can rummage in front of the grave stone for an Adrenaline Orb . After that, go south-east to bump into a trainer looking around for a battle.

Preschooler Liam

Pokemon Level Type
"Jigglypuff" IconJigglypuff 21 Normal/Fairy
"Ledian" IconLedian 22 Bug/Flying

"Jigglypuff" IconJigglypuff is easy pickings for Steel and Poison types. "Ledian" IconLedian won’t survive against a Rock-type Pokemon and will struggle against Fire, Flying or Electric-types.

East from Liam is a Cleanse Tag in plain sight. Give this to your lead Pokemon to reduce the likelihood of meeting wild Pokemon. Useful for getting through densely populated areas without resorting to Repels. From here, head all the way north, then west to exit the hedge maze.

Actually, before leaving, go south from the north-west corner and search the grave stone at the end for a Super Repel . Past the hedge maze, there’s a trainer walking side by side. If you time it right and run when she’s walking (and not turning to look), you can sneak by her.

Madame Sayuri

Pokemon Level Type
"Comfey" IconComfey 23 Fairy

A Fairy-type Pokemon found rarely in the Lush Jungle. For minimal stress, take it out with Steel or Poison-types.

Along the north side, immediately to the west of the tall trees, search the corner for a hidden Revival Herb . South-west from here is an area of tall grass; go through it to pick up the Dusk Ball just above the ledge. To proceed, go east from Sayuri.

Soon, you’ll come across an area thick with tall grass. You can avoid the tall grass somewhat by keeping north, but you’ll enter within a Pokemon trainer’s visible range.

Punk Girl Melissa

Pokemon Level Type
"Ariados" IconAriados 23 Bug/Poison

The evolved form of "Spinarak" IconSpinarak, a spider Pokemon found in Melemele Island at night. No, we are not the "Rotom" IconRotom Dex; we’ve simply been studying it for far too long, bzzt! Anyway, it’s weak to Fire, Flying, Psychic and Rock moves.

It’s tough work for Stoutland in these narrow spaces.

While in the tall grass, head south-west from the Punk Girl. Directly north from the Gentleman that you fought near the very beginning, there’s a Spell Tag sitting in front of a lone grave stone. Next, run east through the tall grass, then head south as you hit the cliff face.

At the end of this path is a Hyper Potion . Finally, go around and wade your way south through the remainder of the tall grass. On the other side, towards the south-east is the exit. However, as you approach, you’ll run into a spot of commotion…

Team Skull Grunt

Pokemon Level Type
"Raticate" IconRaticate (Alolan) 23 Normal/Dark

An instant knock out from a decent Fighting-type Pokemon. Bug and Fairy-types can handle this oversized rat as well. Other Pokemon should do fine if they’re high level and can sustain physical abuse.

Once you’ve saved the day, you’ll be invited to a special tour, but only after you’ve completed your grand trial. Well, well, time to get going then. Carry on east to exit.
