Pokémon: Sun & Moon

Route 12 - Secluded Shore

By
Vincent Lau

From the Blush Mountain entrance, head east. Around here is a bunch of tall grass surrounding a hill. Meanwhile, circling the tall grass anti-clockwise is a researcher that doesn’t mind a battle. For science of course!

Scientist Jayson

Pokemon Level Type
"Porygon" IconPorygon 28 Normal
"Magneton" IconMagneton 29 Electric/Steel

"Porygon" IconPorygon is a man-made Pokemon created 20 years ago. At the time, it was cutting edge stuff; nowadays, it’s a bit… basic to say the least. Anyway, it’s weak to Fighting-types only, but has access to Psybeam to mess you up. Steel-types may be your safest bets here.

"Magneton" IconMagneton is the middle evolution of "Magnemite" IconMagnemite. It’s extremely susceptible to Ground-types and weak to Fire and Fighting-types too.

Make your way to the east side of the hill to find an X Attack waiting to be picked up and loved. Once you’re satisfied, continue south from the Blush Mountain entrance. You can head across the rock path towards the west or the tall grass towards the east.

On the other side, the exit to Route 13 is located directly west. Before continuing that way, head south towards the tall grass before the shore area. Past here, search the rock mound at the end to find a rare PP Up . After that, go down the slope north-east from the tall grass.

Secluded Shore

Looking forward to more litter-picking on the beach?

Like Hano Beach, there are many hidden items to be found on the shore and, if you come back later, these items may reappear. First, you should clear out the shore of trainers… Smack back in the middle of the shore is the first trainer ready for a brawl.

Pokémon Encounters - Secluded Shore

Name Types(s) Location (Encounter Rate)
"Crabrawler" IconCrabrawler Fighting Berry Tree Pile (100%)
"Tentacool" IconTentacool Water/Poison Surfing (40%)
"Pelipper" IconPelipper Water/Flying Surfing (20%)
"Finneon" IconFinneon Water Surfing (40%)
"Magikarp" IconMagikarp Water Fishing (79%, 50% Bubbling Spot)
"Wishiwashi" IconWishiwashi Water Fishing (20%, 30% Bubbling Spot)
"Bruxish" IconBruxish Water/Psychic Fishing (1%, 20% Bubbling Spot)
"Gyarados" IconGyarados Water/Flying (SOS only) Possible ally Pokemon for "Magikarp" IconMagikarp

Swimmer Sara

Pokemon Level Type
"Alomomola" IconAlomomola 30 Water

It’s the painful palindrome Pokemon. Hit it with strong Grass or Electric-types before your brain melts. It knows Protect, so don’t be surprised if your attacks stop short of success.

Next, head west to bump into the second–and final–trainer.

Swimmer Robert

Pokemon Level Type
"Whiscash" IconWhiscash 29 Water/Ground
"Sandygast" IconSandygast 30 Ground/Ghost

"Whiscash" IconWhiscash is the evolved form of "Barboach" IconBarboach; like its predecessor, it’s incredibly vulnerable to Grass-type moves. Otherwise, try to fight it with strong Flying-types, especially those that can resist Water.

"Sandygast" IconSandygast is a sand castle Pokemon occasionally found in Hano Beach. Water-types are strong, but will boost its Defence. Stick with Grass, Ice or Dark-types, unless the Defence boost doesn’t bother you.

Having cleared the way, it’s time to get searching! Call "Stoutland" IconStoutland and begin by sniffing the sand south-west from Robert. About halfway up the beach and half way between the western edge and the rock mound is a Big Pearl .

If it’s day time, go north-west to retrieve the "Zygarde" IconZygarde Cell (43) hiding in the corner. After that, make your way east back towards Sara. A few paces to her west, search around to find a buried Pearl . Continue north-east to where the police officer and the "Slowpoke" IconSlowpokes are.

Go up towards the short grass north from the police officer to discover another buried Pearl . If it’s night time, there will be a Zygarde Cell (44) immediately close by. East from here is a berry pile.

Between the row of four Slowpokes to the east and the next Slowpoke along the shore, search around for a second Big Pearl . That’s actually it, although you can paddle around in the waters if you’d like. Leave back towards Route 12 when you’re bored.

Route 12 - Continued

You’re theoretically done here, but there’s one more thing, which is to take on the boss trainer of Route 12. Patiently head back to the very start of Route 12, just before the first rock path. It won’t take long if you gallop at full speed.

Collector Andrew

Pokemon Level Type
"Ledian" IconLedian 28 Bug/Flying
"Pinsir" IconPinsir 29 Bug

"Ledian" IconLedian is a piece of cake for Rock-types. Fire, Electric, Flying and Ice-types should do reasonably well too.

"Pinsir" IconPinsir is a pure Bug-type, but don’t underestimate it since it’s fitted with Buginium Z. Fire, Flying or Rock-types are ideal, since they do super-effective damage, while resisting Bug moves.

Smite this self-proclaimed kahuna of Route 12 and you’ll be rewarded with TM77 Psych Up . After this, you can use "Charizard" IconCharizard Glide to return to Route 12, where you’ll be dropped right next to the entrance to Blush Mountain. From here, it should be straightforward to reach Route 13.
