Tchia is a brand new game that features a day and night cycle, which passes by as you explore the game’s world. Thankfully, you will gain the option to change the time of day with your ukulele.
How to Change the Time of Day in Tchia¶
As you play the main story, you will eventually unlock your Ukulele in Chapter 3, at Tre’s Camp. You will first have to play a Music Sequence with Tre, which can be skipped of course, if you aren’t adept at rhythm gaming. Basically, you use the left analog stick to highlight a chord, then press Square to hit that note. Whenever you see the highlighted note coming in from the outside, you only have to hit the note (accuracy doesn’t matter, unlike most rhythm games) when the node is partially inside it.
After the Music Sequence and a little bit more of story, you will have to meet Tre over in his garden. It is here that you will unlock the Rock Balancing Challenge, where you have to stack some rocks on top of each other. The goal is to fill the gauge on the right side of the screen, and there is no way to actually fail this challenge, so keep at it until you succeed (or you can just skip it, of course). Doing these Rock Balancing challenges will unlock Soul-Melodies, which can trigger various effects when played on your Ukulele.
The first set of Soul-Melodies learned will help you control the time of day. To play Soul-Melodies, you need to press right on the Directional Pad to bring up the menu for them. The chord chart will be on the bottom, which shows the four different times of day, along with the order of notes you have to play. Similar to when you played the Music Sequence mentioned above, use the left analog stick to highlight the chord, then press Square to play that note. After playing a Soul-Melody, there is a cooldown before you can play that same melody again.
