At the start of your game you have the opportunity to name the Hero, the default will be Link for this guide.

The opening cinematic details the Skull Kid with two fairies, Tatl and Tael , as they knock Link off of his horse Epona and steal his Ocarina. The Skull Kid escapes on Epona and Link is left in a small area of the forest.

If you’ve played Ocarina of Time 3D, the layout of the bottom screen is basically the same.

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the controls and clear out the bushes here for a few rupees. When you are ready, move through the tunnel and leap from stump to stump to reach the tunnel above.

Inside, Link will fall down and meet with the Skull Kid who promptly uses his magic to turn our hero into a Deku Scrub. Skull Kid and Tael leave, but Tatl gets stuck behind.

Check out the flower behind you, it’s a Deku Flower and as a Deku you can enter it by pressing A. Once a puff of air is released you can release A and fly into the air, gliding around!

Go through the door now where Tatl formally introduces herself. Launch yourself from the Deku Flower and across the way, you can drop down to bust the bushes if you want.

The door locks behind you, but that’s alright. Fly straight across to the platform with the chest, inside you’ll find a Deku Nut ! Press B while flying to drop a Deku Bomb, this will blind enemies and freeze them in their tracks.

Fly across the upper platforms until you can reach the one near the tree stump. You can check it out right now, but there’s nothing special at the moment. Proceed through the hallway as the door closes behind you.

Climb up to the top of this room and try to go through the door. Here you meet the Happy Mask Salesman , “You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?”

The Happy Mask Salesman has to be one of the finest characters Nintendo has created.

A brief explanation from this man explains a way to return our hero to his former self. You need to retrieve the Ocarina, but also return Majora’s Mask which was stolen by the Skull Kid.

There is another catch, the Happy Mask Salesman is very busy and you only have three days to complete this task.

The Happy Mask Saleman will point of the Sheikah Stone , you can use it if you get stuck and need direction but this is a walkthrough. Head through the door now into Clocktown, the Dawn of the First Day begins.
