One of the best things about Borderlands games, as well as the spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is the Legendary items you can find. These items are gold in color and tend to have unique effects that are exclusive to that particular one. This page will concentrate on the Legendary Melee Weapon, the Goblin Pickaxe.
Where to Find the Goblin Pickaxe¶
In order to even get a chance at farming for this melee weapon, you will need access to the Mount Craw area of the map. This area is home to the Goblins Tired of Forced Oppression side quest, but you will need to complete another side quest to get to that region of the Overworld, which is called Working Blueprint. You will have access to that side quest after finishing the main story mission, A Hard Day’s Knight. Once the bridge has been fixed, cross it and you will eventually find Mount Craw.
Enter Mount Craw and venture deep inside the area to find the Ancient Obelisk. This is where you need to go in order to find the unique enemy that drops it. Activate the Ancient Obelisk and fight through the waves of Goblins, until you see a unique enemy called Pigwart. This enemy can be a little bit of a nuisance, as he has three health bars and every time you remove one of them, he will put a shield around himself, making him immune to damage for a few seconds. Once you finally kill Pigwart, you can just sit and hope that he drops the Goblin Pickaxe.
Goblin Pickaxe Stats and Effects¶
The Goblin Pickaxe can come in most of the elements in the game and will have its unique effect, as well as a random one outside of that. The special effect unique to this weapon is called Goblin Pickaxe.
- Goblin Pickaxe: Melee Attacks spawn gold! Whenever the Fatemaker picks up gold, increase Movementy Speed, Spell Cooldown Rate, and Action Skill Cooldown Rate by 6% for 5 seconds. Stacks 5 times.
How to Use the Goblin Pickaxe¶
Before even thinking about it, the gold dropped by the Goblin Pickaxe is so little, that you can’t really farm it via that method. The only thing you really want the Goblin Pickaxe for is its buffs, as it has some nice ones. The increase to Movement Speed and Spell/Action Skill Cooldown can be useful for pretty much all classes, especially since you can get up to a 30% increase with all of the stacks active. Of course, you can use the melee strike to make enemies drop gold, to then trigger the buff, which is the whole point of the weapon in the first place.
