One of the best things about Borderlands games, as well as the spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is the Legendary items you can find. These items are gold in color and tend to have unique effects that are exclusive to that particular one. This page will concentrate on the Legendary Pistol, the Catatumbo.
Where to Find the Catatumbo¶
The Catatumbo can be found as a world drop, meaning it’s possible to get it from any loot source. This is the only way to get this weapon, so you have to hope luck is on your side. With that being said, there are a few ways you can improve your chances at getting one, though. You should try and increase your Loot Luck as much as possible, which can be done in a variety of ways, like Lucky Dice, as an example. The best way to farm for this pistol is to head to the Chaos Chamber, go through a run, and in the rewards room at the end, spend all of your Rainbow Crystals on the rabbit that spits out pistols.
Catatumbo’s Stats and Effects¶
First and foremost, the Catatumbo only comes in a Shock version, so you will definitely want this weapon if you’re using elemental damage. It is a Blackpowder pistol, meaning it’s going to usually have higher damage than usual. Its special ability makes it so whenever you deliver a critical hit with the weapon, a lightning bolt will come down and strike the enemy’s critical hit spot.
How to Use the Catatumbo¶
The Catatumbo is a great weapon to use on any elemental build, especially if you’re focused on Shock damage. The magazine size tends to be pretty small, too, meaning you will be reloading a lot, so it’s great for Spellshots and their Spellweaving stacks. If you are trying to farm for a specific one, try to get it so the passive buff on the bottom increases something other than melee damage (unless your build revolves around that).
The Catatumbo can actually fit well into a Stabbomancer’s build, too, since From the Shadows allows you to critically hit while in that state. That means they can deliver a lot of shock damage with this weapon. Otherwise, you will need to be adept at hitting the critical spots on enemies, which can be challenging to do with some enemies. Overall, though, the Catatumbo is an excellent weapon for almost any build, even moreso ones that use elemental damage.
