Final Fantasy IX

Zidane Tribal

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Zidane is the main character of the game and is a ladies’ man, as shown throughout your adventure. This flirtiness of his seems to change a little bit once he meets a certain princess, though. Despite sometimes acting silly, Zidane does show a serious side in times of need, plus he will offer advice to his friends and others on multiple occasions.

Zidane’s skill is Steal, is the only permanent party member who can do such, and should almost always be used on every boss you encounter. His Skill command allows him to use his thieving ways in combat, with Flee, Soul Blade, Sacrifice (when in a pinch), and Thievery being the highlights. Once Trance is trigged, Skill turns into Dyne, bringing a bunch of highly damage skills into the forefront, depending on the normal skills he has learned. He uses both daggers and thief swords, as well as light armor.

A group known as the Tantalus Theatre Troupe visits the kingdom of Alexandria to celebrate the birthday of Princess Garnet. Unbeknownst to the royal family and the citizens of the city, the troupe is actually a band of thieves, who are aiming to kidnap the princess. However, to add a twist, the princess was planning on escaping the castle all along, even asking the troupe to “kidnap” her. This little event kickstarts many others, leading to a grand adventure.

This guide is planned to have a beginning-to-end walkthrough of the main story, while simultaneously guiding you through all of the side quests and other goodies in the game. The side quests include Chocobo Hot and Cold, Tetra Master, and all of the smaller ones, like the jump rope mini-game, Friendly Monsters, Excalibur II, and much more.
