Helldivers 2

How to Get Mech Suits - Helldivers 2

By
Scott Peers

The introduction of Mech Suits to Helldivers 2 gameplay has been greatly anticipated since launch, and we can now finally get them in game. With that said, only experienced players who have reached level 25 will be able to purchase the Patriot Exosuit stratagem, which is the only mech suit currently available in the game. If you can’t wait to reach level 25 for the stratagem to become available, we’ll give you some tips on how to find the Mech Suits in the wild on this page.

You may be lucky enough to find mech suits in different parts of a map while playing in Automaton controlled planets.

Where to Find Mech Suits in Helldivers 2 Maps

Although we haven’t been able to find one ourselves yet, players have stumbled across Mech Suits on maps that are present on the Tien Kwan planet. This is an Automaton controlled planet, and it’s the main base of operations where exosuit (aka mech suit) production is taking place. This planet was relevant to the major order that preceded mech suits becoming available as stratagems, so it may still have the best chance of finding one in the wilderness.

It’s not yet clear whether we’ll see a range of different mech suit types, or if players will be able to customize a mech suit themselves. Either way, reports coming in from players lucky enough to have found mech suits in the wild suggest that they’re incredibly powerful, with one arm wielding a Gatling gun, and the other a decent number of rockets. You’ll have a lot of firepower with these mech suits, but potentially at the cost of them being glass cannons. So, it’s all or nothing with mech suits: you play aggressively, or you die quickly!

Tips for Finding Mech Suits

If you’re still looking for mech suits on the map while you wait to reach level 25, be sure to check all the nooks and crannies of the landscape. You won’t necessarily find them at Automaton bases, but a few players have stumbled upon them in small ravines in the landscape. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, it feels like the developers have intentionally placed Mech Suits in unsuspecting places on Automaton maps so that they’re not easily findable. You can try searching for them if you wish but know that you may have to scan an entire map before you’re lucky enough to stumble upon one.

Get the Patriot Exosuit Stratagem

As mentioned above, the most reliable way to use a mech suit (aka Exosuit) in Helldivers 2 is to purchase the Patriot Exosuit stratagem. You can only get this once you’ve reached level 25, so it’ll be quite a grind for newer players, but easily doable if you’re dedicated. In terms of using the stratagem, it has an instant call-in time, so you can get the mech suit quickly if you’re in dire straits. You can only use the stratagem twice per map, however, and the cooldown time is 600 seconds, so use it wisely! Although you have limited ammunition for rockets and the Gatling gun which are attached to the arms of the mech, you have unlimited fuel, so you can keep moving and potentially hit with melee attacks in a pinch.

the Patriot Exosuit stratagem can be obtained at level 25.

That’s all we know for now, but we’ll update this page with all there is to learn about new types of mech suits as and when they arrive!
