There is an abundance of stratagems to use in Helldivers 2, but The Guard Dog and the Guard Dog Rover are relatively similar, so a lot of the community seem confused abotu which one to unlock and bring into missions. On this page, we’ll provide the pros and cons of each so you can make a more informed decision when it comes to your arsenal!
The Guard Dog and the Guard Dog Rover Differences¶
Name | Pros/Cons |
---|---|
Guard Dog | Strong Against Large Groups of Terminids but Frequently Recharges |
Guard Dog Rover | Strong Against Armored Terminids, but has a higher chance of Friendly Fire |
The Guard Dogs are backpack stratagems, which means you’ll have a friendly drone following you around and shooting any enemies who attempt to cause you harm. However, both of these stratagems will cost you 7500 R to obtain, so you’ll want to go with one that’ll suit your playstyle better. The default Guard Dog is armed with a Liberator Assault Rifle which seems strong against the Terminids and taking down large groups of enemies, but you’ll notice that it spends a lot more time recharging.
The Guard Dog Rover is equipped with a laser rifle. Although it isn’t as good as the normal guard dog at taking out groups of enemies, it excels at taking down the much stronger enemies, such as the Chargers, and it doesn’t recharge as often. Unfortunately, due to the rovers shooting pattern it has a much higher chance of accidentally downing your teammates. Overall, we recommend that you go with the rover due to its increased damage output and the ability to use it for the majority of the mission.
