This Assignment can be accepted at any point after you gain access to the Galaxy Map for the first time. It takes place on an Uncharted Planet that you must explore with the Mako.
How to Begin¶
There are two ways to begin this Assignment, with the earliest being from exploring the system in question:
-
During the events on Feros, you’ll find a terminal at Zhu’s Hope that you can hack. You’ll receive a report and the Assignment will begin under the name of Investigate Shipments.
-
Alternatively, make your way to the Amazon system in the Voyager Cluster to be contacted by Admiral Hackett. He’ll give you the details of the Assignment, under the name UNC: Espionage Probe.
Find the Probe¶
Regardless of how you accept this Assignment, make your way to the planet Agebinium. Once planetside, make your way to the Alliance Homing Beacon to the northwest to discover a mine, leave the Mako and enter it. Inside, you’ll find it rather empty so make your way to the back and enter the only available room to discover the probe.
Upon examining it, you’ll hear a detonator and be contacted by Elanos Haliat, the man behind the Skylian Blitz. Once he informs you of his plans, you’ll have 10 seconds (which will pause between each attempt) to try and disarm the bomb. You’ll now have to decrpyt three hardpoints of the Probe using the mini-games (that differs depening on the PC or Console versions of the game) or alternatively, 100 Omni-Gel per part.
With the Probe disarmed, you’ll find the way you came in is now blocked by the debris from earlier. Instead, take the only other door here and follow it to come out of a different exit of the mine. You’ll find yourself on top of a cliff overlooking a mercenary camp, surrounded by Haliat and his men. You have two options available to you here, either use a Sniper and try to take them on from your current location, or try and carefully make your way down to the Mako. At that point, it’s a simple matter of using the Main Cannon to make short work of Haliat and his men, completing the Assignment in the process.
