During the events on Feros you’ll need to defeat the Thorian, after which you’ll be able to determine the fate of one of its thralls, an Asari named Shiala.
Choice: Spare or Execute Shiala¶
After fighting through Zhu’s Hope - regardless of what choices you make there - you’ll confront the Thorian. This battle consists of you seeking out and destroying several Thorian Neural Nodes while fending off attacks by an Asari Clone.
After defeating the last node you’ll encounter the template for these clones - an Asari named Shiala. Execute her for Renegade +9 or let her go for Paragon +8.
Consequences¶
There’s a good bit of overlap between this choice and the choice regarding the colonists of Zhu’s Hope. If you manage to incapacitate a majority of the colonists (presumably 9+), the colony will be saved, in which case you’ll encounter a representative in Mass Effect 2. If you spared Shiala as well, she’ll be the representative.
The changes are somewhat more significant in Mass Effect 3, as Shiala’s leadership is key to the long-term military success of Zhu’s Hope. Should the colony have survived (you saved enough colonists) and should you have spared Shiala, they’ll become War Assets.
