Elsie lives on the town’s Yakmel Farm with her family. She is a childish character who ends up in trouble during her early game quest but grows as the main story of the game progresses. She can be a bit difficult to give gifts to when you start the game but is involved with several quests. The guide below goes over where to find 
Elsie, how to romance her, and what gifts she likes and loves.
Elsie can be found walking around the Yakmel Ranch or near the train station.
Where to Find Elsie¶
Elsie lives on the Yakmel Ranch down the road from your workshop. She can often be found there, wandering in front of the train station, and she sometimes goes into town. She has a large social network that includes her father, 
Cooper, her mother, 
Mabel, and 
Mi-an. By getting closer to these characters, you can also gain extra Friendship Points with Elsie.
How to Befriend Elsie¶
Elsie is pretty easy to befriend in the early hours of the game. To get close with her, speak with her daily, give her gifts, spar with her, play Critters, and go on Play Dates when they unlock. Elsie tends to post a decent amount of commissions to the board. Most of these are easy-to-make items like the 
Stone Trough, so be sure to pick these up when they appear. Once you reach the three heart level or 400 Friendship Points, you will unlock the ability to go on Play Dates. This gives you a way to earn some extra points with Elsie.
Elsie has several quests that will pop up early on. Many of these, like Takin’ it Easy, also involve Mi-an, allowing you to earn Friendship Points with several characters simultaneously. For a more detailed guide on the Friendship System, check out our guide here.
How to Date and Marry Elsie¶
Elsie will refuse to date the character until you are around 30 to 40 hours into the main story of the game. If you have not made it to the Chasing Elsie mission, then the information below will be a story spoiler.
While you are working with Mint to begin building the road to Portia, Elsie will run away from home. This occurs after she attempts to befriend Daisy, the monster, and ends up injuring Mabel. At this point, you can go to see Elsie in a cave and complete an extra quest for her. She will remain gone from town but ask you to take Oregano to Mabel to help her heal. We should mention that this can only be done if you already reach the Buddy friendship level with Cooper as Mabel is resting in his room, and only those close to him can enter.
After a few days, she will return to town looking completely different, with Daisy beside her. From this point on, you can give Elsie a Heart Knot to ask her to date you. This can be obtained from the General Store for 120 Gols.
Once you reach three hearts of 900 Friendship Points, you can propose to Elsie using the Engagement Ring. This can be obtained from the Mysterious Man on the 20th and 21st of each month for 2,000 Gols.
Best Gifts to Give Elsie¶
Elsie is pretty picky about the gift she wants and has a long list of items that she doesn’t like. She loves Sandfishing, pets, and Desert Defender gear. The table below goes over all of Elsie’s loved and liked gifts.

To start out, you can give Elsie Water a few times a week for six points. You have a chance of finding a Shiny Scorpion when working in the scrapyard, which is worth 17 Friendship Points. For the most part, though, you aren’t going to be getting a lot of gifts for Elsie until you get close to the end of the game’s first act. At this point, it’s best to focus on fishing to get points with Elsie. Her most loved gift is the Bullhead King, Crucian Carp King, and the Lungfish King, which can be given to her for 20 Friendship Points each.
It’s best to focus on doing commissions for Elsie and interacting with her each day in the early hours of the game. Taking on her quests also helps to get you some extra Friendship Points until you are able to start collecting the gifts she really wants. You really just want to ensure that you are doing everything you can to get points with her each day.
Elsie Player Gifts¶
Elsie will send players gifts in the mail when she reaches a certain milestone. The table below goes over the gifts that Elsie can send to the player and at what friendship level she will start to send them.

If you don’t want these items, then many of them can be gifted back to Elsie. In addition, they can also be sold at the General Store if you are looking to get some extra Gols. Elsie will also give you a present on your birthday once you are friends with her.
