Background¶
A large sea route that stretches west from Nuvema Town. Its strong, fast currents make swimming hard. But you’ll still find swimmers here anyway.

Guide¶
At no point in the main story are you required to visit this route. However eagle-eyed trainers may have noticed this route sticking out from Nuvema Town after studying the Town Map.
To reach here, enter Route 1 like you would normally, then hug the left side until you find a stairway leading to a body of water. Assuming you have a Pokemon with Surf, you can surf onto the water and continue left to the other side.
From here, make your way south, minding the high Level trainers and wild Pokemon until you find a gatehouse in the south-west corner: this is the gateway to Route 17.
So what’s in this route? A lot of water, that’s for sure. So bring a lot of Repels unless you really like the sealife here. All the normal encounters are Frillish and they get boring fast (although it’s nice how male and female ones look different).
Also watch out for the strong ocean currents: move into one and you’ll follow it all the way until it stops. Sometimes these currents are useful; other times, they just cause you to waste time.
Carefully make your way west, using the currents to your advantage and battling any careless trainers who get in your way, until you reach the next route… Yup, you heard that right! There’s actually a route that is connected directly to another route!
