Background

This sand filled route contains a number of new Pokemon, with access to the Desert Resort to the west as well. Unfinished building work litters the left side, making you wonder if this route will eventually cease to be as Castelia expands its borders north.

Guide

Head north and you’ll meet Cheren who also wants a fight.

Trainer Battle: Cheren

Cheren returns to battle. He has some pretty strong Pokemon so hopefully you’ve been levelling yours well.

"Pignite" IconPignite 22 Fire/Fighting Only if you picked "Snivy" IconSnivy

Cheren throws up issues, his starter is still effective against yours but your Pan monkey will see short work of that if you’ve trained them enough, but you’ll have to make sure you prepare for his Pan monkey, it will be the same type as your starting Pokémon so ensure you’ve got a good counter in your squad.

Dispatch Cheren and you’ll get a call from the Professor asking you to meet her in Nimbasa City , the location at the end of Route 4. To reach Nimbasa you simply need to run north as far as possible. If you have some spare time, heading north-west will take you to an optional area, the Desert Resort .

If you follow the path you’re more likely to encounter trainer resistance, but they are all easy fights. Whereas if you tread through the deep sand then chances are you’ll have to dispense with some random Pokémon, it’s your call at the end of your day.

Heading left past the resthouse leads to a number of trainer battles and TM41 at the end.
