During character creation you’ll get to pick an Aptitude which will define your character’s past profession before traveling to the Halcyon system. Needless to say, your past was rather unimpressive, and as such so are the bonuses you’ll gain from whatever Aptitude you choose. Your Aptitude is mostly flavor, and even then, not flavor that’ll be referenced during gameplay so… uh… yeah.
The best you’ll get from your Aptitude is a one point bonus to a skill or 3% damage resistance to a specific damage type. This skill bonus does not contribute towards skill unlocks, by the way - for all intents and purposes it count as a temporary bonus (akin to gear and companion bonuses).
