Location: | Monarch - Fallbrook |
How to Start: | Talk to Nelson Mayson |
You’ll find Nelson Mayson near the entrance to Fallbrook, just follow the road and enter the first house to the left (east) and talk to him. For a criminal he’s surprisingly trusting, and will almost immediately offer you a job. Apparently he thought it was a good idea to replace loaders with sprats on his drug runs, not taking into account the fickle and fragile nature of said sprats, and now needs somebody to locate and recover his missing drugs. He’ll offer you 5% of whatever undisclosed amount these drugs are worth, but you can talk him up to 35% with a [Persuade 100] check.
Follow the road through Fallbrook to the east (or rather, the glowing median, which is far more distinct) and when it ends abruptly turn northeast until you’re near the river. Turn northwest to find a locked door which you can unlock with the SubLight Storage Key Nelson gave you. Beyond this is another door, beyond which, in turn, are the caves where Nelson’s sprats are supposed to be running. In the most predictable turn in Monarch history, some raptidons have found their way in and… well, the interaction between raptidons and sprats should be pretty obvious.
Kill the raptidons, then search the dead sprats to pick up Nelson Mayson’s Drugs - you’ll need to loot five different sprats to get all the drugs. When you’re done, loot the cave then return to Nelson where you can pass a [Lie 50] check to keep his drugs and tell them they were gone when you got there, scoring you Adrena-Time x10. Don’t feel bad for Nelson, though, as even if you don’t pocket his drugs he’ll throw a fit and claim you did. In this case, sock him in the eye again to remind him of the pecking order. Either way, he’ll send you back out to find the other half of his drugs.
Leave Nelson’s office and follow the road east, keeping your eye to the north until you find a house with a vending machine in front of it. The sprats running around outside should give you a clue you’re in the right place, too. Enter this house and you’ll find a man named Bertrand along with a giant sprat named Mini Malin. Okay. Talk to Bertrand and he’ll get… oddly defensive of his sprats. Shuffle through his dialogue until you get to an opportunity to pass a [Persuade 20] or [Medical 30] check, which will see you digging through… well, sprat shit. Pass either one of those skill checks or you’ll have to put Bertrand and his overgrown sprat down - neither should pose that much of a threat. Either way, after you’ve searched the sprat crap for the other five units of Nelson Mayson’s Drugs, return to Nelson.
Once again you can pass a [Lie 50] check to keep the drugs you found, netting you Adrena-Time x5, after which be sure to demand your pay. The rewards for this quest are all over the place, so we’ll try to summarize:
-
If you did not pass the [Persuade 100] check at the beginning of the quest and turned over both packs of drugs you’ll gain 375 Bits and a good amount of positive SubLight reputation.
-
If you did not pass the [Persuade 100] check at the beginning of the quest and you passed the two [Lie 50] checks to keep the drugs, you’ll get 375 Bits and 750 Bits, but a lesser amount of positive SubLight reputation.

You can also pass a [Persuade 100] check at the beginning of the quest, pass the first [Lie 50] check to gain Adrena-Time x10, then turn the other pack of drugs in to gain 375 Bits and 750 Bits, as well as a good amount of positive SubLight reputation.
Finish the quest however you will, and if you stole all of Nelson’s drugs, don’t fret - he doesn’t have another task lined up for you anyways.
