How to Claim Land - Conan Exiles

By
Jessica Dillon

Claiming Land is a feature in Conan Exiles to help keep the online servers balanced. This feature reins in players so that they don’t try to take up the whole map with their base. Essentially, when you claim land, you are given a radius in which you can build in. This is active on both PVE and PVP maps. The guide below goes over the process of what claiming land does and how to claim your own land in detail.

You can claim land by starting to build in an unclaimed area.

What is Claimed Land

Claimed Land is a radius on the map that a player or clan has claimed for their base. The claimed land radius is determined by the server settings. The number of bases you can have is based on the rules of the server, but generally, players can have more than one. Claimed Land isn’t a constant, as there is a decay timer that pops up on each base, crafting station, and item the player places down. The decay timer can be lengthened or shortened by the server owner, but generally, players have 336 hours before their base enters into the abandoned state. Once this happens, the base will disappear once 48 hours have passed, freeing up the land. Items like chests can have shorter times of up to two hours. The timer can be checked with a Repair Hammer, and when a player revisits the item or base, the timer will reset.

How to Claim or Reclaim Land in Conan Exiles

If you are playing in single-player mode or on a closed server, then you won’t really need to worry about claimed land. Additionally, you can alter the decay timer if you make a personal server to play on with friends. For those on PVE and PVP servers, claimed land is an important part of balancing the game. To claim a piece of land as your own, simply place down an item. This will signal to the game that it needs to give you a radius in this spot for building your base. You cannot place any items in a radius that is already occupied by another clan or player.

If you happen to stumble upon an abandoned base, then you can claim it once the server has relinquished ownership from the former player. In addition, if you are playing in PVP, you can destroy bases. Keep in mind that you will need to remove a Bedroll to completely steal someone’s base, and the Fiber Bedrolls have 5,000 health, making it mostly not worth your time.
