As if you didn’t need more reasons to be cautious in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the saving system can be a brutal part of the mechanics, especially if you’re playing in co-op mode. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about how to save in Wo Long on this page.
How Saving Works in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty¶
Saving Your Progress in Single Player¶
You’ll only get one save per playthrough for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and it will be added to via autosaves as you play through the game. The main points at which the game autosaves are when you discover a new Battle Flag, or when you defeat a specific boss or complete a mission. You should make a point of discovering all the Battle Flags that you encounter in each mission, but keep in mind that discovering a Marker Flag won’t autosave your game.
Once thing to note about saving in Wo Long is that if you die, you’ll be returned to your last autosave location but you won’t necessarily retain all the progression you made. You’ll notice that all the enemies you killed, either before or after you discovered the flag, will be respawned. You’ll also notice that your Morale Rank is reduced, and this happens every time that you die. It’s important to discover both Battle Flags and Marker Flags because these will set your current Fortitude Rank to whatever you have at that time, which sets a base minimum for what your Morale Rank can fall to after each death.
If you die just before a major boss battle, it’s a good idea to kill a few of the respawned enemies to regenerate your Morale Rank. You should have the ability to encounter all the enemies in a mission after a death, so you can kill as many as you need to get your Morale Rank up to a point which is at least the same as the boss you’re fighting, or preferably higher if you want to make things easier. The higher the Morale Rank, the more damage you’ll inflict and the less you’ll receive.
Can You Save in Co-op Mode for Wo Long?¶
The save system in co-op games of Wo Long functions in a slightly different way than it does in single player modes. If you die in co-op, you’ll respawn from the last Battle Flag that you discovered in just the same way as you do in single player. However, if you leave the game entirely in co-op mode without completing the mission you’re on, you’ll need to start the mission from the beginning again. This is different to single player, where you’ll load in at the last Battle Flag that you discovered for the mission you’re on.
