This page contains information about the Mausoleum in Diablo 2: Resurrected, including details about the enemies you can encounter, their immunities, how to reach this area, and what builds/characters are most effective at farming it.
Location | Champion/Unique Mobs | Special |
---|---|---|
Act 1 - Burial Grounds | 4 - 5 | Blood Raven |
The Mausoleum is an Area Level (aLv) 85 area in Diablo 2: Resurrected, which means that almost every item in the game can drop there (for more information on how drops work, check out the aptly-named page How Magic Find and Item Drops Work page). The Mausoleum has a lot going for it - it’s easy to find, it has the super unique, Blood Raven standing just outside of it, and it houses perhaps the weakest mLv85 enemies in the game, both of which are immune to the same, single element - lightning.
Despite all that, however, it’s not as popular as The Pit or the Ancient Tunnels, largely for one reason - it has relatively low enemy density. You’ll probably spend more time looking for something to kill than actually killing, and that’s not a quick recipe for getting drops.
Still, the Mausoleum is the easiest aLv85 dungeon in the game to clear, and it’s the first you can actually reach in Hell difficulty. It has enough redeeming features to make it worthwhile for some characters, at some point in their farming career.
How to Find the Mausoleum¶
The Mausoleum is located in the Burial Grounds, a small area with a fenced-in interior housing both the aforementioned Mausoleum and another, inferior dungeon - the Crypt. Given the size of the Burial Grounds, it shouldn’t be hard to find your dungeon. To reach the Burial Grounds, you need merely travel to the Cold Plains Waypoint - the first Waypoint in the game - and follow the road through the area. One road will lead to the Stony Field, the other to the Burial Grounds.
Denizens of the Mausoleum¶
Monster | Immunities |
---|---|
Hungry Dead | Lightning |
Skeleton | Lightning |
No points for guessing the Mausoleum is full of the undead, which may be a nuisance for characters who depend on leech. The Mausoleum has the least enemy variety of any aLv85 area, with only two different types of enemies - the Skeleton and Hungry Dead. Both are immune to lightning.
There are between 4 - 5 champion/unique mobs in the Mausoleum and one super chest. Unfortunately, the size of the area is not smaller to compensate for the lower enemy count, making for a relatively sparsely populated dungeon. On the plus side, you can find Blood Raven just outside of the Mausoleum, in the Burial Grounds. As a super unique, she’s well worth killing as part of any Mausoleum run.
Best Characters to Farm the Mausoleum¶
All the enemies in the Mausoleum are slow and immune to lightning, which should allow for almost every character to farm the Mausoleum with little worry. The only exceptions, of course, characters who primarily deal lightning damage - the Lightning Sorceress, Javelin Amazon and Trap Assassin being the primary victims here. That said, the narrow confines might make life tedious for a Hammerdin and Summon Necromancer](https://www.gamerguides.com/diablo-ii-resurrected/guide/characters/necromancer-builds/summon-necromancer-summonmancer). Generally characters move onto better, more densely populated dungeons when they have the power to do so.
