Diablo II: Resurrected

Best Magic Find Items

By
Nathan Garvin

Examples of some of the best Magic Find gear in Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Acquiring powerful new gear is one of the key goals in Diablo 2 Resurrected, and to facilitate this you’ll find items with the modifier “+% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items”. Magic Find is covered in more detail elsewhere in the guide, but to keep thing simple, the more +% Magic Find you have, the better chances you’ll have of acquiring the unique and set items you want. The sweet spot for +Magic Find varies by character, but +300% to +400% is generally seen as the sweet spot at which point the actual rate of finding more unique/set items stops increasing enough to matter compared to kill speed and survivability.

Below you’ll find some of the best unique items that will give you significant amounts of Magic Find.

Blade of Ali Baba

A unique Tulwar, the Blade of Ali Baba gives +1% Magic Find per character level and possesses two sockets. The base Magic Find is high enough, but if socketed with two Ist runes (an expensive proposition) it’ll give more +Magic Find any any weapon in the same save a 6-socket weapon full of Ist runes. On the downside, this weapon provides little in the way of modifiers that’ll boost kill speed and requires some Dexterity. Nightmare [Mephisto] is a good place to farm for it.

Blade of Ali Baba Stats

Tulwar
Damage 25 - 77
Durability 32
Required Strength 70
Required Dexterity 42
Required Level 35
  • +60 - 120% Enhanced Damage
  • +5 - 15 Dexterity
  • +15 to Mana
  • 2.5% Extra Gold From Monsters per Character Level
  • 1% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items per Character Level
  • Socketed (2)

Chance Guards

Players have few options when it comes to getting +Magic Find on gloves, and Chance Guards have significantly more than other gloves. A lucky roll on rare/crafted gloves will yield more useful secondary stats, but with a maximum of +40% Magic Find, if that’s the stat you care about, these are the gloves you want. Unfortunately, Chance Guards are fairly variable, with +25% Magic Find at the low end.

Chance Guards Stats

Chain Gloves
Defense 27 - 28
Durability 16
Required Strength 25
Required Dexterity
Required Level 15
  • +25 to Attack Rating
  • +20 - 30% Enhanced Defense (variable)
  • +15 Defense
  • 200% Extra Gold from Monsters
  • 25 - 40% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (variable)
  • +2 to Light Radius

Goldwrap

With the highest base +Magic Find of any belt and few other useful stats (save +Increased Attack Speed), Goldwrap is basically the belt version of Chance Guards. Tal Rasha’s Fine Spun Cloth belt can, with two other set items equipped - achieve more Magic Find, but unless you’re a Sorceress wearing Tal Rasha’s Adjudication (amulet) and Tal Rasha’s Guardianship (armor), this is probably the best pure Magic Find belt you can find.

Goldwrap Stats

Heavy Belt
Defense 34 - 36
Durability 18
Required Strength 45
Required Dexterity
Required Level 27
  • +10% Increased Attack Speed
  • +40 - 60% Enhanced Defense (variable)
  • +25 Defense
  • 50 - 80% Extra Gold from Monsters (variable)
  • 30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
  • +2 to Light Radius

Gull

Pure, distilled Magic Find, the Gull dagger does little besides giving +Magic Find, but it yields a whopping +100% Magic Find. If you can survive the lack of other useful stats, it’s a low requirement weapon that gives you a huge boost to what you arguably want the most. As a dagger, it can technically drop very, very early in the game.

Gull Stats

Dagger
Damage 2 - 19
Durability 16
Required Strength
Required Dexterity
Required Level 4
  • Adds 1 - 15 damage
  • 100% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
  • -5 to Mana

Harlequin Crest

One of the best helmets in the game, the Harlequin Crest gives a respectable +50% Magic Find, tying it with the best possible rolls on Tarnhelm and Stealskull while providing numerous other useful stats, like +Skills, +Life/Mana per character level and Damage Reduction 10%. Put a Perfect Topaz in it and you’ve got a hefty +74% Magic Find, making it a no-brainer for almost any treasure hunter in the game. Hell [Andariel] and Hell [Mephisto] are both good sources of this item.

Harlequin Crest Stats

Shako
Defense 98 - 141
Durability 12
Required Strength 40
Required Dexterity
Required Level 62
  • +2 To All Skills
  • +2 To All Attributes
  • +1.5 Life per Level
  • +1.5 Mana per Level
  • Damage Reduced by 10%
  • 50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

Nagelring

Joining the Tarnhelm, Goldwrap and Chance Guards as old Magic Find staples is the Nagelring. Like most of the aforementioned items, it provides little of interest save +Magic Find, yielding up to +30% Magic Find per ring. Alas, it’s highly variable, to expect to find a few duds. It’s another item where a rare specimen - while perhaps not able to compete with it in terms of sheer +Magic Find - can roll with enough useful mods (+Cast Rate, +Life/Mana, +Resists) to make it more valuable than a Nagelring. Good luck.

Nagelring Stats

Ring
Required Level 7
  • +50 - 70 to Attack Rating (variable)
  • Magic Damage Reduced by 3
  • Attacker Takes Damage of 3
  • 15 - 30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (variable)

The Oculus

While it doesn’t have the highest amount of Magic Find on it, the Oculus does have a healthy +50% Magic Find bonus. Better yet, it’s got plenty of other useful stats for Sorceresses, making it very likely that this weapon will substantially improve your kill rate when compared to other potential Magic Find weapons. The downsides, of course, are that it’ll randomly Teleport you when you take damage, which is a nuisance at best and this weapon can only be used by Sorceresses.

The Oculus Stats

Swirling Crystal
Damage 18 - 42
Durability 50
Required Strength
Required Dexterity
Required Level 42
  • 25% Chance to Cast Level 1 Teleport When Struck
  • +3 to Sorceress Skill Levels
  • +30% Faster Cast Rate
  • +20% Enhanced Defense
  • +20 to Vitality
  • +20 to Energy
  • All Resistances +20
  • +5 to Mana After Each Kill
  • 50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

Skullder’s Ire

Granting a whopping +1.25 Magic Find per character level, Skullder’s Ire is hands down the best unique +Magic Find armor in the game. Only Tal Rasha’s Guardianship and [Enigma] really even compete, and they’re both incredibly rare. A Lv80 character will end up with +100% Magic Find with this armor, and if you socket a Perfect Topaz into it you’ll boost your Magic Find by another +24%. While it’s not great in terms of survivability or kill rate, the +1 to All Skills does help make wearing this armor more bearable for casters.

Skullder’s Ire Stats

Russet Armor
Defense 634 - 732
Durability 90
Required Strength 97
Required Dexterity
Required Level 42
  • +1 To All Skills
  • +160-200% Enhanced Defense
  • Magic Damage Reduced by 10
  • 1.25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items per Level
  • Repairs 1 Durability in 5 seconds

Stealskull

While casters will favor the Tarnhelm’s +skills, Stealskull isn’t a bad holdover until you can get a Harlequin Crest. Granting +Increased Attack Speed and dual leech, Stealskull is especially useful for ranged and melee attackers.

Tarnhelm Stats

Casque
Defense 219 - 248
Durability 24
Required Strength 59
Required Dexterity
Required Level 35
  • +10% Increased Attack Speed
  • +10% Faster Hit Recovery
  • 5% Mana Stolen per Hit
  • 5% Life Stolen per Hit
  • +200 - 240% Enhanced Defense (variable)
  • 30 - 50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (variable)

Tarnhelm

An oldie, but a goodie, Tarnhelm grants its wearer up to +50% Magic Find and +1 to All Skills, the latter making it somewhat less painful to wear. The Magic Find on this item varies between +25% to +50%, with anything less than +40% Magic Find generally being considered to be a dud. It’ll serve you well enough until you find a Harlequin Crest.

Tarnhelm Stats

Skull Cap
Defense 8 - 11
Durability 18
Required Strength 15
Required Dexterity
Required Level 15
  • +1 To All Skills
  • 75% Extra Gold from Monsters
  • 25 - 50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (variable)

War Traveler

With an upper limit of +50% Magic Find, War Traveler are easily the best +Magic Find boots in the game. Since they also add +Run/Walk speed, +Strength and +Vitality, they’re not terrible in general, either. Even low-end rolls are worth using for treasure hunters. Nightmare [Mephisto] is a fine target to farm these from.

War Traveler Stats

Battle Boots
Defense 120 - 139
Durability 48
Required Strength 95
Required Dexterity
Required Level 42
  • +25% Faster Run/Walk Speed
  • Adds 15 - 25 Damage
  • +150 - 190% Enhanced Defense (variable)
  • +10 to Strength
  • +10 to Vitality
  • 40% Slower Stamina Drain
  • Attacker Takes Damage of 5 - 10 (variable)
  • 30 - 50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
