Every Rose Has Its Thorn is a relatively hidden quest in Vermund, tucked away in Vernworth and only accessible if you choose to help out Wilhelmina when following her questline in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, what do you need to do to unlock this quest and what do you have to do to complete it?

Below, you can find a full breakdown of the steps to complete the quest, which are thankfully not too elaborate, even if they are a bit obtuse.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Every Rose Has Its Thorns walkthrough¶

Upon meeting Wilhelmina, after your initial encounter, you will find she is busy with a client, and that client happens to be Allard. After a while she will drop him and talk to you, telling you she wants to kill him. You can either help kill him or dissuade her. However, in order to unlock this quest you will need to help her, obtaining the quest Every Rose Has Its Thorn in the process.

Wilhelmina then asks you to find evidence on Allard, to justify his murder. While you aren’t given any directions, you want to visit “Sven” in his chamber in the palace. He will suggest you visit “Patrick” who will be able to help you out.

Sven offers the directions for the next step of the quest.

From there, you want to head to Patrick’s manor where he will mention that paintings in his manor look suspicious. Talk to him again and he will help you out by summoning Allard for a brief period of time, allowing you to check out paintings in his manor.

As soon as you finish talking to Patrick, you want to head to the quest marker as Allard will instantly start walking towards Patrick’s. Don’t let him see you though, so hide behind the stairs or a nearby wall.

Touch the painting above the nightstand inside the manor to obtain the “Murder Report” which you can then take back to Wilhelmina. Upon giving it to her, you will be able to kill Allard by following her into the room next to her bedroom, learning some shocking details about Wilhelmina and her past in the process.

Doing this will also ensure you have romanced Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2, raising your affinity with her.
