Dragon's Dogma 2

How To Change The Time Of Day

By
Echo Apsey

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a full day and night cycle, and the lands of Vermund and Battahl are deadly both during the day and in the pitch black twilight hours. But there are many reasons why you might want to switch to the daytime or change to the night to take on a tough enemy lurking out in the shadows of the hillsides and desert plains, whether it be for story reasons, side quests, or just to explore and find some secrets.

But, how do you change the time of day in Dragon’s Dogma 2? And, are there any downsides to doing so? You can find a debrief on how the mechanic works before you jump in and begin your journey below, Arisen.

How To Change The Time Of Day In Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can change the time of day in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by resting at a camp, sleeping at an inn, or taking a nap elsewhere in the world. This will pass time by around 8 hours, allowing you to skip between morning, afternoon, and night. However, passing time will cause each NPC, questline, and the world itself to progress by the same amount of time too, meaning you may miss some valuable items, or fail quests due to not saving someone or fulfilling their request in time.

That is why you need to be extra careful when and where you use this mechanic as using it too often or carelessly is a recipe for disaster and potentially leads to missing out on tons of secrets. Dragon’s Dogma 2 also only has one save file so if you accidentally skip too far forward, fail a quest, or miss something, you aren’t able to return to a previous save file or autosave to retry.
