This page offers a guide on how to make a Gas Mask in Grounded. The Gas Mask is an important armor piece that allows you to fight stink bugs in melee range, as well as enter into the Haze.
How to Unlock the Gas Mask Recipe¶
In order to be able to make a Gas Mask you’ll first need to analyze either any stinkbug part, weevil nose or a rotten gas mask at the Resource Analyzer. To repair the Gas Mask, you’ll need x2 Gnat Fuzz and x1 Crude Rope - you’ll probably find that you need to repair your mask a lot if you spend lots of time in the Haze or fighting Stinkbugs.

How to Get Stinkbug Parts¶
Stinkbug parts are obtained from Stinkbugs, which are big gross bugs found near the haze and other toxic areas in the southwest region of the map. It can be tricky to obtain the stinkbug parts without first having a Gas Mask but if you use a bow and keep your distance you should be able to avoid its toxic gases for the most part. Try to use the terrain to your advantage and get it stuck on rocks or between blades of grass.
How to Get Gnat Fuzz¶
Gnat Fuzz can be obtained from Gnats. Gnats are found flying around bodies of water. You’ll find a bunch of them near the water to the east of the map. The easiest way to kill them is with ranged weapons or by getting up high and bonking them with your melee weapon.
How to Get a Weevil Nose¶
Weevil Noses are obtained from killing Weevils. Chances are you have a ton of them in your storage or pockets since weevils are a good source of food!
How to Get Crude Rope¶
How to Make Crude Ropes
Crude Ropes can be crafted by hand using x3 Plant Fiber per Crude Rope. Plant Fibers can be obtained from picking small, low-lying plants which can be found all over the ground. And before you can make Crude Rope, you’ll need to first analyze Plant Fiber at the Resource Analyzer to unlock the recipe.
