Grounded has quite a few large chests players can open, with there being a chest sunk at the bottom of the Sandcastle’s Moat. Like all chests, players must find the respective key to open it. This guide will teach you about the location of the Melted Moat Key and how to open the Sandbox chest in Grounded.
Melted Moat Key location in Grounded¶
First thing first, you will need to dig up the Melted Moat Key from the Sandbox. Head over to the Spade area of the Sandbox, which is in the centre of the box. You then need to head northeast of the location, climbing up the lumps of sand and getting to a flatter surface. If you wait till around 3:30 PM, the sun will pass over the Spade, with the Spade handle’s shade projecting over the area you need to dig. See the image as a reference to the Melted Moat Key location if you’re not close to 3:30 PM in your save. Alternatively, our interactive map can help you out.
Once you find the spot, you will need to use a Tier 2 Shovel or higher, such as the Black Ant Shovel or the Black Ox Shovel to dig it up.
Melted Moat Chest¶
Now you have the key, you need to take it to the Melted Moat Chest. The chest’s location is inside the moat to the very south of the Sandcastle. It’s very easy to see, thanks to nothing else in the moat and its sheer size. Here’s a visual referene on our interactive Grounded map for more information. Simply swim up to it and use the key to open the chest.
Once the chest opens up, you’ll find there are two items inside the Melted Moat Chest. These items are a Milk Molar, along with the Water Logged Recipe. The Milk Molar is the essence of the Milk Mlar, with no tooth to smash to get at it. The other thing you need to know is the Waterlogged Recipe grants the recipe for the Salt Morning Star.
This is perhaps one of the easiest of the locked giant treasure chests in the game, with more to come, such as the Sticky chest in the Upper Grasslands being more difficult.
