Please Be Gentle
As you progress through the game, you will encounter an eccentric inventor known as Welch in the town of Myiddok. She will periodically offer you quests that will reward you with Specialty Skills that will allow you to dabble in Item Creation and by leveling these Specialty Skills, you can unlock more recipes. All you need to do is create one item from any of the skills in order to get this trophy. If you’re going to fill the Item Encyclopedia to 100%, then this trophy will come naturally, as there are some items that can only be obtained via Item Creation.
Successor to the Vineyard Throne
This is definitely one of the last trophies you will get, as it requires you to make at least one of every item via the Item Creation skills. To unlock them, you will need to complete up to Behavioral Study from Welch’s quests, then use SP to level all of them to the max level. Recipes will appear as ??? at first and if you’re able to make the item, the question marks will be green (items you don’t have enough of will appear in red on the right side). As already mentioned, this will take a good while, as one of the items you need to make requires drops from the optional superbosses.
Item Creation Trophies
Apart from the above two trophies, the rest of the Item Creation-centric ones revolve around using Synthesis to create specific items. There are two problems with these trophies, the first of which is that Synthesis is random, to a certain extent (check out its own section for an explanation). The second problem is that some of the items you need to create require specific ingredients, some of which can only be obtained in the optional dungeon.
All of the items, sans Learn From Your Mistakes, will require you to have a 50 value for the Quality, with some also requiring specific items. Some easier recipes to obtain this value will be listed, focusing on items you can buy or easily craft from items you can buy. For those items that need specific ones, you will see ( Required ) next to them. Remember that the following recipes are not set in stone and you are free to choose whatever you want, as long as the results are the same.
Item | Type | Recipe |
---|---|---|
Numinous Tincture | Medicine | Wondrous Tincture **(required)** , Alchemist’s Water x3, Blueberry Potion |
Gourmet Curry Rice | Food | Shortcake x4 |
Levantine | Metal | Moonstone (required), Gold x5 |
Immolating Fangs | Natural Mineral | Moonstone (required), Cashmere x5 |
Aether-in-Stasis | Signeturgy | Moonstone (required), Ruby x5 |
Dragon’s Bellow | Machine | Moonstone (required), Micro Circuit x5 OR Diffusion Device x5 |
Learn From Your Mistakes
Unlike the other item creation trophies that require a Quality of 50, you simply need to synthesize any item that has an Impurity of 50 in order to get this trophy. Each category has one and none of them have any ingredients that are required, so any items that reach the 50 Impurity will work. Again, ingredients that are easy to acquire will be listed in the recipes, with a focus on those you can buy before those you might need to get from enemies/harvest spots. Remember that you only need to create ONE of the items for the trophy, but you’re going to need all of them for the Compendium Completionist trophy.
Item | Type | Recipe |
---|---|---|
Forbidden Medicine | Medicine | Alchemist’s Water x2, Velvet Ribbon x2, Gold x2 |
Dish Formerly Known as Food | Food | Prehistoric Meat x2, Mythril, Micro Circuit, Shadow Rose, Gelatinous Slime |
Metal Pipe | Metal | Gold x2, Ruby, Gelatinous Slime x3 |
Paws | Natural Material | Crystal, Ebony, Gold, Shadow Rose x3 |
Welch’s Handy Stick | Signeturgy | Alchemist’s Water x2, Velvet Ribbon x2, Crystal, Mythril |
Squirt Gun | Machine | Diffusion Device, Quantum Processor, Wire, Gelatinous Slime x3 |
Full Arsenal
Every character in the game can learn their skills and spells from the various skill books you can find in the game, either as drops from bosses, found in chests, and rewards from quests. While you can usually find two of every skill book, as most of them are shared between two characters, some of them are only available in a single instance. However, it is possible to craft every single skill book using the Authoring (Fidel, Miki, Fiore and Victor) and Engineering (Emmerson and Anne) specialty skills. All of the skills are listed in the Characters section of the guide.
Hail to the Chief
You will need to learn a majority of the Roles in order to get this trophy. There are 107 Roles in the game and you unlock new ones in a variety of ways, such as leveling others, as rewards from quests and even from viewing specific Private Actions. As the description for the trophy states, you only need to unlock a majority of the Roles and not all of them, which is a good thing, as it’s possible to actually miss two of the Roles since those two are tied to PAs that are only available for a limited time. You should be able to miss around 5 or so of the Roles and still get this trophy. For a complete list of them, go to the Roles section to find out how to unlock every one.
Battle Trophies
As with the past few Star Ocean games, there are in-game achievements called Battle Trophies that are awarded for doing specific tasks. These range from fighting a certain number of battles to achieving a specific combo. Unlike Star Ocean 4, which had a metric ton of battle trophies, there are only 100 in this game and most of them are simple. There are a few that will require some grinding, such as 1,000,000 total hits, but you will likely get a majority of them as you play the game. Head to the Battle Trophies section to learn about all of them, as well as see some tips on how to get them.
Bestiary Trophies
Getting all of the entries for the bestiary can be quite a feat, as it’s possible to easily miss a few of them due to enemies disappearing for good. This is because as you progress in the story, older enemies will be replaced by newer ones, so it’s important to always fight at least one of each enemy in an area before moving on. The same thing happens with the bosses in the Cathedral of Oblivion, with each boss having multiple entries in the bestiary that is differentiated by their levels. Luckily, the bestiary is shared between save files, so if you’re missing something at the beginning of the game, you could start a new one, get that enemy and save the game to a new file, then it will appear in your encyclopedia on the old one. If you’ve gotten every single enemy as you go through the game, then the Boss of the Bestiary trophy should pop whenever you encounter Ethereal Queen for the third time (six wings).
Item-Related Trophies
Getting every single item at least once in your adventures can be a bit of a problem, but it is needed to get these trophies, as you need to have a 100% Item Encyclopedia. If you don’t know how to access it, go to Resources and then Encyclopedia. If it’s showing enemies, press Square to access the item section and you will see the percentage of items you have acquired in the bottom left corner. You will get the majority of items from killing enemies, finishing quests, and from Item Creation, but there are some that can only be acquired through Synthesis. Head to that section of the guide to see a list of items that you can only create with Synthesis. Item data is carried over between save files, similar to the bestiary.
Quest Trophies
You will get both of these trophies upon completing 100% of the in-game quests. There are two types of quests, those given out by Welch in Myiddok and those found on bulletin boards in the three main cities of the game: Central Resulia, Santeroule and Eastern Trei’kur. More will unlock as you progress through the main story and some quests even unlock after completing older ones. You will find all of the quests in the Quests section of the guide.
