As already mentioned, there’s a few things you can do around the world before you should move on with the story. There are a number of whistle PAs that you can view, some of which are actually missable. However, only one actual Private Action actually yields anything of value, which is called Patch Conversion and can be found in Trei’kur. This PA will grant you a new Role called Pinchfist . Since this section of the game will have you going to at least one other town, it might be a good idea to at least do the whistle PAs there.
There are a number of new quests in the various towns with the bulletin boards, although you will want to focus on one particular quest for now. Go to Central Resulia and find the quest called Survive This! This specific quest has a great reward that will unlock the Lockpick Specialty skill, which will allow you to open up the locked chests in the game. In order to finish this quest, you simply need to head to Passage on the Cliffs and find the three groups of Eitalon survivors. Defeat them all, return to Central Resulia to turn it in, then pay out the 500 SP to get the Lockpick skill .
You will remember running into a lot of these locked chests throughout your adventure, so it’s time to go and open them. The good thing about the contents in the locked chests is they will grant you access to some battle skills a little bit earlier than usual. The following table will list the location of the chest and what you get inside of them:
- Sthal - Inside of the Training Hall (Swordsman’s Manual III)
- Central Resulia - Inside of the castle (Diligence Potion)
- Central Resulia - Inside of the castle (Love Potion No. 256)
- Santeroule - Inside of the Royal Institute (Cerulean Orb Signets, Vol 2)
- Passage on the Cliffs - Cerulean Orb Signets, Vol 2
- Coast of Minoz - CQC Program Gamma
- Resulian Plains - Solar Signets, Vol 2
- Dakaav Footpath - Moonlight Signets, Vol 1
- North of the Eastern Eihieds - Pneuma Signets, Vol 1
- Northern Territory of Sohma - Purification Signets, Vol 2
- Western Dakaav Tunnel - Signeturgical Book of Quietude
- Trei’kuran Dunes - CQC Program Epsilon
- Eastern Trei’kur - Resurrection Elixir
There is one more quest you can do, which is one of Welch’s quests in Myiddok. It is called Of Weapons and Womanizers and she’ll require you to bring her a total of 5 Micro Circuits. If you went through and looted all of the chests in the Cryptic Research Facility (no, you can’t go back there), then you should have at least 8 Micro Circuits in your inventory, provided you didn’t sell them or squandered them in Synthesis/Item Creation. There’s no good source for them at the moment, so hopefully you have them still on hand. Your reward for finishing this quest is the Engineering Specialty skill.
Cathedral of Oblivion, Part 2¶
If you check out the Cathedral of Oblivion portals now, you will find that the enemies you encounter inside have changed. This also holds true for the final boss of this upgrade Cathedral, who is called Vidofnir. The lowest level is 45, which is the portal in Coast of Minoz, while the highest one is level 65, in Northern Territory of Sohma. Yes, there are two more instances of the portal now, in Trei’kuran Dunes and Northern Territory of Sohma (they don’t have a first set of enemies, so you didn’t miss out on anything).
It’s highly likely that you might only be able to handle one or two instances of Vidofnir at the moment, depending on how much grinding you did or if you didn’t break the story by using Synthesis to get some very good equipment. That limits you to the Coast of Minoz and Resulian Plains portals, although you are more than welcomed to try the other ones to see how you fare. Vidofnir uses a lot of fire skills and is weak to ice (strangely enough, fire doesn’t heal it), so having Ice Needles as Fiore’s only skill is ideal here.

Vampire Bat | Avian | Jasmine, Chamomile, Crystal, Darkness Gem |
Earlier in the story, you were limited in what you could explore of Trei’kuran Dunes, but now you have free reign over the area, so it’s time to go hunting for some treasure! The chests in the northeast corner of the map should already be empty, since you were there earlier in the story, so if you didn’t get them all, check out the Relia’s Mystery section of the guide. To start off, head to the isolated section to the northwest, which is where you’ll encounter the Stroper, Trei’kuran, and Vampire Bat enemies.
In the first area here, climb the hill and you’ll find a chest with a Bloodstained Cloth in it. Continue north into the next section, grabbing the chest on the eastern end ( Jasmine x5 ). Keep going north and right before the final area, you will find another chest on the right side ( Signet Card: Divine Wave ). After that, grab the final chest in the final area to the north ( Bloodstained Cloth ), then return to the central section of the map, as it’s time to continue the story.
