The world of Stray is a little lonely at times, especially if it wasn’t for the company of B-12. However, that cannot be the case if you get the new Stray coop mod for PC. The mod enables a split-screen coop for two players to play through Stray together. However, it is an early development mod, so it may encounter some issues. Here is everything we know about the Stray coop mod.
Play Stray using the coop mod¶
The Stray coop mod allows players on PC to play the game with another player. You can press F9 on the main menu to enable another player if you download and install it. Have your gamepad connected, and you and your local coop pattern will be good to go. You can also assign more players to play, but it seems likely the game may get more and more unstable the more players you add to the game.
However, the mod is fairly untested and has a few issues. There is no official confirmation that the mod will allow you to complete the game together or encounter any other buffs and glitches along the way. Keep it in mind if you plan on playing a split-screen campaign. There is also an issue with a player getting stuck on scene transitions to a new place. You will need to exit to the main menu when the game has been saved and reload to get the coop partner back into the same area as the main cat.
If you’re still interested in testing it, you can download the mod from Nexusmods. Download the mod, and then you need to follow the download instructions on the mod page. Messing it up will likely cause the mod not to work correctly and cause your game to crash with fatal errors.
If you’re looking to play the game in coop online, you may need to wait a little why longer. It appears the mod developer of the coop splitscreen mod knows someone looking into it, but there’s no gurantee or no ETA for it at the time of writing.
