Where to find Leather in Enshrouded¶
So far, there are two methods to get Leather in Enshrouded, and they are as follows:
- Find it from smashable loot
- Make it yourself in your base
Let’s get the first method out of the way. It is important to note that Leather is a random drop from smashable objects or other end-game content in the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes Desert. When you enter the Ancient Towers, Flame Sanctums, and the Sun Temples, look for loot around the buildings: looting coffins, smashing vases, and other obstacles and furnishings around the place. You can find gear associated with that biome, and Leather is used a lot in mid-to-late and late-game crafting, so you should find it among the loot tables. Be aware that these drops share a loot pool with other resources and consumables, so it’s more for passive farming while you’re out and about, rather than a dedicated farming strategy.
As for target farming Leather in Enshrouded, making it yourself is the most reliable strategy. Firstly, you need to get your hands on the Tanning Station. You will need to complete the quests leading up to the Nomad Highlands for the Hunter before you can get this. You’ll then need to craft it using 10 Wood Planks, 4 Nails, 10 Lumps of Clay, and 10 Tar. Once it is built, you can now create Leather.
To make the Leather, you will then need to get your hands on the following items:
- 10x Dried Fur
- 20x Salt
- 2x Ammonia Gland
Once you have your Tanning Station, you can now make Leather in Enshrouded using the recipe requiring Dried Fur, Salt, and Ammonia Glands.
Dried Fur is a material you can find by smashing objects in Revelwood and Nomad Highlands, but you can also get it from the Drying Rack using Animal Fur and Salt. Meanwhile, Salt comes from the Undead Monks at several POIs, alongside the Salt Mines in the Springlands. As for Ammonia Glands, these drop from the evil mushroom enemies you find in shrouded areas around the Nomad Highlands. The best places to find them are around the border of Revelwood and Nomad Highlands in the Shroud, particularly near the Pike, amongst other shrouded pockets near the Umbral Hollow. When you have the materials, you can now return to the Drying Rack and then craft Leather.
What Is Leather Used for in Enshrouded?¶
When you have Leather, you will likely find that you need it for the following purposes:
- Padding - 1 Leather is used per craft of Padding, You need Padding for high-end craftable armor sets.
- Mid-to-late-game Armor Sets - Most of the craftable level 18 armor sets require Leather.
- Furnishings - Leather can be used in certain base structures like Carpets.
- Gliders - Leather is used to craft The Extraordinary Glider from the Carpenter.
- Large Backpack - Leather is used to craft the biggest backpack in the game, granting you +24 slots.
